Dr. Pruska-Carroll's absence will be a big loss to the Concordia Political Science Department, her experience and expertise in Russia and the former Soviet Republic are hard to find anywhere. She tells it as it is and is an excellent teacher/marker. Hopefully she comes back.

Terrible! I know how popular she is, likely because she's an easy marker, but excessively biased. Romanticizes the Soviet Union and inadvertently admitted to being Nomenklatura! Her response to contrary views is "well people from the West wouldn't know." So anyone not Eastern European isn't allowed an opinion. Brutal if you're a serious academic.

completely useless. a waste of money and time. not objective, not informative. romanticism, a trip down memory lane. she is pleasant but offers no insight or knowledge. useless readings. worst was her complete ambivalence towards the bosnian war, which deserves objective analysis in a poli-sci course on eastern europe specific regional issues.

I have taken 2 classes with her and she is very skilled and knowledgeable in her area. Attendance is not mandatory but you will go to class because she initiates such interesting discussions. She is also a very kind person ready to help her students. I like her and would definetely take her for a 3rd time.

Very enjoyable lecturer. Note-taking is a bit of a challenge but she'll tell you the most important bits. Shows many dimensions to every political problem, but definitely has the "story-teller" style of teaching down to a T. Very approachable, friendly, and I personally have a huge crush on her.

Hopefully it has just been an off semmester, but I have found lectures in her Urban Politics class this fall hit and miss. Some days you'll get a good lecture, but often they are extremely disorganized and superficial (there is quite a bit of editorializing and some class discussion, but not much material is covered.)

i am taking 2 classes with her this semester just because i like her so much. the classes seem easy because she is very clear and so the learning seems fun. when she speaks about eastern europe and communism, she actually KNOWS what she's talking about so if you're brainwashed, this class is NOT for you.

loved her! shes so sweet and cute! she has many stories to relate to and explain topics. would deinfately suggest any of her classes... they were not very difficult bc she gets to the point. the exams were so easy... but thats bc she prepares you for it!

Her lectures are clear and complete, so if you take good notes you should be able to get a decent grade. Do the readings and make reference to them on tests to bump it up to an "A". Has definite opinions, but isn't too overbearing with them so no big deal. A bit awkward outside of class, but you don't need to socialize with her so who cares?

In a sea of profs who do nothing but make your life harder then it already is, professor Pruska somehow makes you get an A, without even knowing how hard you worked. A true prof who is there for her students.......and looks amazing for her age :P.

Tells you exactly what,s on exams, so there's no surprises. Interesting class, with intersting anecdotes about the USSR/Russia. You might not want to buy all the books though, or just borrow them. Recommended!
