You have to study. You have to show up for class. He will help you if you ask! He's not going to give you a free A. Go to lab sessions, if you go to 9, he will raise your grade. If you want to be an SLP you have to work for your grades. It only gets harder from here.

Dr. Stimley is not your avg prof. He expects a lot from his students and can be a little off-putting with his personality. However, he is a great teacher who ensures that you learn. Make sure to speak up and make him remember your name. Always be prepared for pop quizzes and read ahead. USE QUIZLET.

Dr. Stimley makes you work for your grade. If you do the readings, pay attention in class, and study, you will learn more in this class than you can imagine. All of his classes are like this. I have taken Dr. Stimley for CD 212 and CD 323 along with 312. He's not bad once you understand his method. He comes of strong but you'll get used to it.

Dr. Stimley is the hardest teacher I have ever had, but I learn more from one class with him than 3 with any other professor. You will have to really apply yourself to do well. READ everyday, go to office hours, pay attention in class (and come everyday), and know how to apply the material. He doesn't just give an A you have to earn it.

This professor is very hard! He knows his stuff but you HAVE to work for your grade it is near to impossible to get an A in this class unless you spend 3 plus hours studying every single night. I would not recommend taking him unless you absolutely have to. He will make fun of you and humiliate you in class.

Extremely knowledgeable (teaching the same material for decades probably helps). Interests lie more along the lines of speech "science" than the therapeutic aspect, which won't help much in the real world as I later learned. Objective tests are okay, but short-answer tests can be unreasonably brutal. Disliked by many. Not hard to see why.

You will hear a lot of things about this professor. No he is not going to give you an A that you don't earn and he is at times a little harsh. But he is very knowledgeable and one of my favorite teachers in the communication disorders program.

Yes, absolutely the best professor in the program. I like the ladies who teach here too, but he is by far the expert who must be the foundation of the place. I'm a first year graduate student and don't want to insult the ladies here, but Dr. Stimley is high caliber. Felt like I actually might become a real expert here.

This class was okay until he commented on someone's absence due to a death in the family that "three days was too long" and "I doubt her [family member]'s last words were to take three days off from classes". I'm sorry, what? Complete unprofessional and uncalled for. He went on for a few minutes with this BS. Puts a bad name on SLP prog. at ISU.

Dr. Stimley is pretty mad at the world and everything in it. He is really, really nice and helpful in his office though. So I wouldn't suggest EVER asking questions in class- he WILL HUMILIATE you. If you have him you pretty much have to take him, so my suggestion is just to stand up for yourself and STUDY, STUDY, AND STUDY some more.

He is one of the smartest professors I have had. He is somewhat egotistical about it though. If you read the assignments before class, you will be doing yourself a favor because he likes to call on people in class. If you don't know the answer - it's your funeral! So - study hard!

Dr. Stimley is very personable in his office. don't let his rough texture outside keep you out of his office and from asking questions. this is a good way to het him in a good mood. let him see you on the floor working with the computer in speech science and with Clyde for anatomy. He IS a good teacher and you WILL learn from him.
