Ridiculously boring class. Concepts are pretty basic and he doesnt expect you to know all of the specific details since its not a very through course. He curves the tests pretty well. His lectures put me to sleep frequently. Im one of 4 people who regularly show up. Average classes but he is so boring and uses the word essentially in every sentence

Literally the worst teacher I've ever had. His lectures make absolutely no sense. His tests are impossible no matter how hard you study because his "study guide" question are ridiculous. And then when you ask for help he looks at you and talks to you like you're a simpleton. Also, when he says he doesn't care if you come to class, he's lying.

He's a salty old man who doesn't care much for his students. He doesn't look anyone in the eye, gets frustrated when you have a question, and misuses the phrase "in essence" A LOT. He knows that students take this class because it is a requirement for those who did not take physics in high school and still does little to help during class.

Worst teacher I've had. Period. You won't understand anything he's saying in his lectures, he still teaches with a projector like the nineties, and the tests are impossible. I took this class out of pure necessity to fill up a core and if I wasn't taking the minimum of 4 classes I would've dropped it by now.

It infuriates me that he is still teaching at PC. After reading these reviews, I agree with all of them - I would advise staying far away from his class. This course was a core requirement and I worked really hard to pull out a C-. It ruined my GPA and I didn't get anything out of that class.

Worst class and teacher I have had at PC. His lectures are boring and you learn almost nothing. His tests are surprisingly hard and he gives a study guide with 60+ short answer questions. He randomly kicks people out of class when he feels like it. Check your test answers, he makes mistakes often. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!

Worst class and professor that I have had at PC. Lectures are very long, boring, and unclear. I was always taking my own notes from the textbook. He has no interaction with the class during lectures. No personality. Must double check his grading because it usually is not right. Stay far away from his class if you can.

I showed up only for the tests, got a C. Barely ever went, but when I did it was so boring. Tests are actually surprisingly difficult and can take over 2 hours. Boring as hell but definitely a class you can blow off. TAKE THIS CLASS WITH AT LEAST 2 FRIENDS.

Terrible Professor, its a struggle to sit in class without a computer or falling asleep. I would avoid him at all costs. Tests are way harder then you would expect and way too complex. Only good thing is he gives you half a grade boost if you miss less than 4 classes.

He is really boring, he drones on in his lectures. His tests are really hard and often times he has to add points because the average is SO low. He expects a lot from the students.

He's not as bad as most of these comments make him out to be. His lectures are pretty boring but he gives you a grade boost for going which is helpful. His tests though are pretty much exactly what the study guides say and they aren't too bad. Most of it is just science that you probably learned back in high school.

I only took the class because it seems easy. Attendance isn't required but he gives points if you have less than 4 absences on your final grade. An easy A if you ignore his lectures and just read the book, making an outline and making sure to answer the study giude questions he gives you. He is fairly boring, but does have some witty remarks.

I had to drop this course after the second test because I was just barely passing. Asked for help and he just stared at me as if I was talking in another language. I was SO happy to get out of that class without having to hear the word "essentially" again!

Words can't describe him. He does say "essentially" and "in essence" dozens of times per class, sometimes in the same sentence. Not all that hard when it comes down to it - a few short papers (a pain because you need to research) and tests which are just regurgitating the notes. Pretty much everyone gets a B+ or A-. But the lectures are painful.

I would advise taking another class for your science core. You think it's going to be interesting because it's honors, but then you find out you are so so wrong. Not a very good teacher.

By my count, on average he said essentially 93 times a class, with a high of 162. He teaches the history of science, and knows little about history or science. Does not think outside of the box, but treats his selected texts like the Bible. If you can pick up enough details in his incoherent blathering and repeat them on the tests, you'll get an A.

Probably one of the worst professors I have had at PC. He gives horribly unclear lectures (during which he CONSTANTLY says essentially) and is absolutely no help whatsoever if you go to speak to him, he is very impersonal...he also has a horrible grading system and has a line of kids after tests complaining about scores

I received a C in this class. However, I also used the wrong textbook for the entire semester and I funneled beers before the exam. Take from that what you will. P.S. Does anyone else think Saltzy looks a tad like Walter Matthau?

i will sum up the class by telling these basic, yet essential anecdotes: not only did my friends show up only on fridays so we could throw our feet up on the desks and read the cowl, but i also once shrieked aloud in anticipation of getting the hell out of class
