Knows alot of material for sure but has no idea whatsoever how to communicate with students. Awful teacher. A disaster and a disgrace. Should not be allowed in a classroom. Ever. Belongs in the library shelving books. Bad bad stuff.

GREAT class! she is a great teacher, and you learn alot from her. It is VERY hard though, but there are only 2 test and one paper and on the test you get to use a cheat sheet. She grades hard, but if u wanna learn about the arts from a great teacher, take her!

I really enjoyed her class. She presented the material in a very understandable and enthusiastic way. If you stay caught up and go to class you should be fine. She is extremely nice and very approachable, I wish i could take another class of hers; i learned a lot. I highly recommend taking one of her classes.

The people who don't do well in this class are idiots and are not ready for college level courses. She isn't the type of teacher who is going to hold your hand through the material. She grades harshly because she wants you to know the material like any good teacher.

One of my worst teachers. She has a very distorted knowledge of the ancient world. Do not take her.She grades on 2 tests and doesnt check the progress of the 90% students who sleep through every class. Extremely boring and her voice has a high anoying pitch. i was very disappointed

Bertram loves Humanities! She is a sweet intelligent lady. She lectures every class, however, she kept me awake with her enthusiasm. If you go to class and take organized notes, you will do fine. Tests are in essay form but she lets you use a note card.

I have never been in a class that is so boring. It is actually painfull to watch her lecture. She does know the material but she might as well be stuck in the ancient times she makes sound so boring. I get that embarrassed feeling for her when she is in front of the class.

Actually had her in the 80's, at Chico and another college in Sacramento. She was disasterous in both classes. She grades extremely subjectively and according to how she has sized you up. Get on her good side and you'll do fine! On her bad side?

bertram's lectures are rambling affairs which few have the capacity to follow. assignments are inadequetly explained, and she grades very harshly. she is passionate about the material, but seems to have lost her mind long ago. AVOID.

The first day she scared out about 12 students! She is very knowlegable about the subject matter, but presents it horrible and doesn't follow students' progress. I'm just sorry that she didn't scare me out!
