I had Murdock for the history of China. This was the most interesting class I took in college. He learns all the students names, seems to care, and is entertaining.

I didn't know anything about Asian history before this class and now I know tons. Cares about students and willing to help with the Seems intimidating but funny and knows a lot. Likes to joke around but doesn't like disturbances at all (cell phones, late people, etc). Sadly, he is leaving for BYU-Hawaii. Movies and books were interesting.

TAKE THIS CLASS! He's leaving after Spring. This was THE BEST CLASS I've ever had. The reading expands your mind, the lectures are unstoppable (especially the first and the last - wow). He knew 150 students' names by the third week! If you want a life-changing class, take it, even if you've already fulfilled your req. for Civ.

This is one of the easiest and most interesting classes that I have taken. Professor Murdock is amazing! His lectures are so entertaining, I had him for three hours once a week and never got bored.Just write down everything he says and do your essays just like he instructs and you will get an A.His reading is interesting but not needed to get an A.

The lectures are interesting all the way through and every assignment is beneficial. No busy work. Applies the gospel to the class and applies the class to life. Absolutely amazing!

BEST TEACHER OF ALL TIME! Go to TA's before you turn your paper and take good notes. Don't buy the text book it doesn't help you at all. Everything depends on going to class and taking good notes. Hilarious teacher and ridiculously intelligent. I have never listened to a better lecturer any where. TAKE HIS CLASS!

Dr. Murdock is the best teacher I have ever had in my life! I learned so much in his class. He is so nice and personable, especially if you take the time to go talk to him personally. He genuinely cares about you personally and even in a class of over 100 he somehow knows everyone's name, even the quiet students who never say a word!!

Dr. Murdock is easily one of the best professors I've ever had at BYU. His lectures are so engaging that even a 2 1/2 hour class wasn't boring. He has high expectations of his students, but he very helpful and always willing to work with you. Writing assignments can be challenging but as long as you are clear of his expectations you should be fine.

Amazing class and professor! Has the best heart of anyone at BYU. Take his class it is challenging but will change your perspective. His sense of humor is great and realize if he says something "mean," he is only kidding. Murdock will know your name and actually value your presence.

All I can say is that this was one of the best classes that I've taken and the reason is because of Prof. Murdock. I always enjoying going to lectures. They are interesting and have open discussions that allow you to get involved. My favorite part was that even in a large class he somehow knew my name. It's really cool how he learns everyone's name

I've taken 3 classes from Dr. Murdock (200 and 231) and all I can say is that he is one of the best profs in the history department. His lectures are engaging and he enjoys discussion, even if you don't agree with him. Those who say that he is arrogant were probably equally arrogant and presumptuous with him; if you are polite with him is too.

I love class with Dr. Murdock. Lecutres were great and he has this strange gift where he knows your name, even if you have never talked to him. The frustrating part of the class for me was the high and mighty TA. She was too full of herself.

Teacher is willing to help you. He is intimidating, but wants you to succeed. Always go to the TA's before turning in papers. Lectures are interesting and his sense of humor is dry. not bad at all, but not my number one favorite.

I hate Histroy, and he had my attention the entire two and half hours evertime that we met. He has a way of making everything so interesting. If you are looking for an easy A, this is not the class. But if you want to learn a lot, this is the one!

Murdock is a smart man. His lectures were well organized. Participation is encouraged, but be prepared to have yours handed to you if you're stupid (or wear a bike helmet). Take acurate notes, this will help you on the quizes. Best professor I've had.
