I took this professor a number of years ago at Seattle University. She was one of the best educated and least biased professors in the political science department. I cannot help but notice the poor spelling and grammar of the commenters who rated Professor Burgoyne poorly -- perhaps they had trouble understanding the material.

She is very easy and doesn't assign that much assignments. Her lectures are really disorganized and boring. One tip, do not buy the textbooks bc you'll Never need them!

This teacher is an absolute disgrace. She has no clarity, is utterly and completely biased. She talks more about her life than her subject. I absolutely recommend steering as clear as you can away from this class. I tried to enjoy it but she is a completely useless teacher and I was constantly infuriated by her obvious stereotyping and impartiality

So nice, she really cares about her students and really knows her topic well. She is a fair grader and as long as you do the work, you should be fine! Definetly take her class if you get the chance!!

I loved her class. She is personally interested in the topic and she demands her students think critically, especially interns of how the media frames topics and conflicts. I learned so much from her.

I am also responding to the person who claimed that "anyone who did not like her was just not smart enough." Though I have a stellar GPA and received a good grade in her class, I thought she was an inpercise, scattered and highly disorganized prof. Ergo, BAD. Maybe you weren't smart enough to realize this?

To the person who said people are smart enough to get her, you must be crazy. Her lectures were incredibly disorganized, which is why many people complained to the department head. You get a better grade if your her favorite and she puts your name on the final test.

She knew the subject inside and out and was really up-to-date on current events. She was also really excited about polysci, which is nice since it makes the class more interesting. Can be a bit disorganized at times (ie cancels exams at the last minute, doesn't show up to class etc) but if you can get over that, take her: I learned a lot.

Dr. Burgoyne had been absent from teaching for several years before I had her class. She was quite disorganized, lectures were superfluous and lacked thoughtful analysis. The course did improve, however, in the last half (though we never fully covered the course curriculum). The potential is there so keep checking back...

An interesting class. Although she was a bit disorganized and returned things late she is really excited about the material and passes that on. Although sometimes her lectures are not that interesting you can learn a lot. There were only 3 tests and 2 papers. If you do the work you can get an A. I think that the other comments are not fair.

Burgoyne is incredibly disorganized. Constantly returns assignments late, postpones office meetings, does not give study guides in a timely manner (2 days before exam day!), and her test grading is bizarre (if you don't use the exact word she wants in a short answer response, she'll count your answer wrong). If you have a choice, don't take her!

She's a pretty poor professor. She is really intelligent and seems to really know her stuff, BUT... She is a horrible lecturer. Is not clear with standards. Does not give study guides far enough in advance. Inconsistent. Scattered. Doesn't really seem to know what's going on with her own study guides. Really nice lady, REALLY awful professor.

She is nice and passionate about the subject, but very scattered and rather biased. I had her regrade my midterm because it was NOT graded fairly AT ALL, nor were a few others' tests; but she was good enough to make fair corrections. She loved my essay and final, though. I don't recommend her, but you could easily survive her course if you must.

While she is a great person and very accomidating to students outside of class, her lectures are all over the place, follow no pattern and makelittle sense. she saves all quizes until the last week of the quarter, and grades very bias toward her opinions. shes a nice person, but dont take her class.
