Comment:
She was very scatterbrained. Lectures were long and incoherent, the final was really difficult and had nothing to do with her lectures. Just a warning the class may seem really easy but with so few assignments, can add up really quick.

Dr. White is amazing. She is a wealth of knowledge and you should take advantage of that. You must do the reading or you will fail. 3 papers and a final project about sci-fi books. She is very caring but definitely has a strong personality. If you're interested in arch, visit her office hours. This class was a lot of work for 8 am but interesting.

I took Dr. White for Archeology. I learned a lot and found the class interesting. Make sure to read the stuff she assigns before class. Make sure you participate in class and raise your hand. She's a fair professor but definitely not the easiest compared other professors to the department.

Went into this class excited and wanting to participate. Left the class barely passing and stressed out. Lots of reading (articles dozens of pages long), mandatory class participation, and lots of papers. Would not take again.

Comment:
Dr. White is not clear in her expectations. I do not mind if a professor grades strictly, but I do expect my professors to be transparent. She acted like her students were stupid and her enemies. I read every day, but she treated people like they were stupid when they talked, so I stopped raising my hand to respond to her questions.

Dr. White loves archaeology, which makes the lecture easier to pay attention to. She is vague on what will be on the exams, so you have to make sure you write down everything she says during the lecture.

I dropped her class a week in. She demands a lot, understandable of a class like that since it needed a permit. She definitely will know if you're not prepared for class and will call you out on it. She's very biased, though, and WILL let you know her opinions.

Dr White may be one tough cookie, but she knows her stuff, and is fair. She demands a lot from her students, and expects you to be ready to participate in class (25% of your grade). It doesn't take he long to figure out who is prepared, and she will treat those that are with a level of respect as she likes stimulating discussions. Highly recommend

Nancy teaches a class about archaeology that is very thorough and challenging. USF is not a very academically difficult school. This course is probably above the level of a regional university, and Dr. White will probably never relent. That being said, if you have any interest in actually learning about archaeology, she is your woman.

If you are not one of this instructor's pets, she will make you feel like you are truly worthless. She does treat the boys better than the girls which is weird since, as someone else noted, she claims to be some big Marxist feminist.

She is especially hard on the female students. Guys seem to do better, even though she claims to be a Marxist feminist.

Dr. White loves archaeology. And and that is a good thing. The problem lies on the fact that she thinks all of her students do too. There is a lot of reading in this course, and that is because participation is a must. Give it a go of you're willing, but it is a bit of a challenge.

3101 was tough because it's an immense amount of material in a short time. However, if you are sincerely interested & enjoy a challenge Dr. White can be a GREAT mentor. She is passionate about what she does & extremely knowledgeable. Once you get to know her she will go out of her way to help so give her a chance! Upper courses are much different.

Continued.. I am a very good student and her teaching methods are so incomprehensible that I struggled to get a C!! She brags about having written Archaeology for Dummies. In my opinion she needs to read Teaching for Dummies. This is a 3000 level class. Are you serious!!! Heed my warnings!!

Simply humanitarianly.. out of concern for my fellow students, I have to tell you that this teacher is not a good idea. Participation is 25% of entire grade- you have to read and know EVERYTHING in 2 entire textbooks.. Anything and everything i fair game for the exams which are fill in the blank (no word bank) and essay. NO STUDY GUIDE WHAT SO EVER

Like other commenters, I found Dr. White to be a challenging professor. I came away with a whole new appreciation for archaeology and what it means for us. Thanks to this new perspective, I'm going to participate in a field school dig this summer instead of sitting on my duff playing video games.
