The worst online class I've ever had. I would avoid this class if possible. I'm a neuroscience major and still found this class extremely difficult. The quizzes each week were super stressful, you get only a few minutes to finish them, and there's at least 3 each week. I had to study several hours for each one and many times still didn't get 100.

Literally one of the worst online professors I've ever had. Grades are based solely on a written assignment and weekly online quizzes (he'll give you 3 or 4 of them per week) and gives you a very limited time to take them. They're also only a few questions each so bomb just a few and there goes your A in the class.

This should not be considered a psychology course. I felt like I walk in in the middle of a physiology course. I was confused and treading water the entire semester. The material was complicated and difficult to comprehend and the lectures were monotone, dull, and hard to follow.

I have never had less than an A in a psychology course and this is the first C I've ever had in my life. He was so rude when I would email him asking for clarification and when I asked him to explain what I did on a paper he made me feel extremely stupid. His quizzes are so difficult, I would rarely get an A on them. Never got an A on a paper.

Dr Rowland is such a knowledgeable professor who truly has an interest in having his students learn the material. he is so busy outside of class (other than teaching, he has a research lab and is Department Chair), but he always makes time to answer questions during office hours. The class material isn't the easiest, but it was so interesting!

Tests can be a bit difficult, but he did curve the grades at the end of the semester. Tests comprise of multiple choice and short essays, it's not too much work but the tests do require a bit of studying.

I need to take an upper division elective, I didn't think it would be too hard until after the first test. I got a 70 after extensive study. Don't be turned away by this I ended up getting an A in the class with a medium amount of work. Take it with Rowland, my friends took this class with other professors and got B's. Dr. R curved the class 10%!

Worst professor I've ever had in my 4 years of college. Incomprehensible/boring lectures, trying to write a second-rate textbook as he teaches the class, test questions that were never covered in any source. I was sooo excited to take this class (Psych of Eating/Obesity)! He managed to ruin any interest as well as my GPA (and a lot of other's GPAs)

Don't take any classes with Dr. Rowland. He made the test last minute on the airplane. Everything came from his head and gave us study guide a day before test. Everyone in the class were complaining and some cried. Gosh what a worse class ever! He knows everything on the subject (which is great), but he is always unprepared to lecture.

The professor knows his stuff, but he teaches very generally using PowerPoint slides. Then, his tests are uber-specific and th TA's grading is RIDICULOUS! I doubt the TA would be able to take this test in the time allotted (20 multiple choice & 8 "short answer"/essays!!) and I'm disappointed this class ruined the subject for me.

Worst professor i've ever had.. i was so excited for psych of eating and obesity and i dislike this class so much. it is impossible to follow him during lecture, no textbook, and the exams are hard. He never goes over anything with enough clarity to do well. I do NOT recommend this class to anyone.

Good lecturer, supplementing book information with his own observations and research; gives difficult but definitely fair exams and makes expectations clear. Very approachable and laid back in both the classroom and his office. He knows his stuff too -- definitely worth taking.

I have taken three classes with Dr. Rowland (Intro Neurobiology of Behavior; Psychology of Eating; and Neuropharmacology). He is one of my favorite professors at UF. He is clear on expectations and fairly laid back. He is also extremely knowledgeable and makes that knowledge easily accessible to all in his lectures.

Drug Use & Society is a VERY interesting and enlightening class and there is SO MUCH material! Fortunately, it's all about drugs! I LOVED this class and Rowland is a very knowledgable and fair teacher. Unfortunately I'm afraid he might be lazy as well because the TA's (DeFulio and McClure) were very tough and graded and made all papers and quizzes.

The professor is adorable, but the TAs do everything and grade extremely hard! I thought it seemed like such an interesting class, but it is not worth it! SO much work and writing and you don't even get any words for the class! AVOID this class unless the TAs change! They test unfairly and assign random grades for the papers!

I agree with whoever said you don't have to go to class. I took it over summer, stopped going halfway through, ended up with an A in the class because I read and did the MyPsychLab stuff. As long as you honestly read all the crap and do the online quizzes, I think anyone would be fine. It is a LOT of reading for Summer, though.

I would never recommend this class to anyone over summer semester. Over 50 people dropped his class or went to other sections of the class just to understand the material. He teaches directly out of the book--you have to read about 40 textbook pages a night just to keep up. I think it would be better over fall/spring.

Good teacher, interesting class. Quite a lot of material to learn in a summer term though, and I wouldn't recommend it for everyone. He had two TAs, David Richards and Fred Shueh; David is quite a good lecturer, but Fred is impossible to understand and generally seems unprepared. Lectures are directly from the book.
