Overall, this class is interesting but if you want to get a good grade, you have to be a good understand-er and reader. It costs you to spend a lot time of reading and memorizing. The lectures are some kinda dry but kind okay. The textbook is somewhat required because a lot of info. comes from it directly and many terms are not taught in class.

Good professor, imo. Teaches a smaller class size now (30-40 students). Very clear lectures, if a bit dull, but discussion was active and study guides, when fully utilized, guaranteed a decent grade.

she is an awful teacher...if you want to take this class take it with professor isbell...she is soooo much more interesting. the material in this class is good but she does not teach it well

Did not enjoy this class. Her grading for participation is very unreasonable. Class is very uninteresting. The material can be interesting but the way she goes about teacher makes the subject very boring. Very confusing and exams were not well written.

She has a stupid participation grading, making over 300 people talk for credit. Class is slow and boring. She is not a good teacher, but you can gety a good grade if you show up to class.

friendly but fake, inflexable, often unclear, tests are somewhat reasonable but test reviews are a complete joke, grading of the howework is ENTIRELY UNREASONABLE, and lastly attendence/participation metheods are weak and unfair based on which you choose.

this was the worst class i have ever taken at umass. she was boring. rumor has it that taking this class with the other teacher is so much better. all her examples she uses are straight from the book. her tests are hard and reviews dont cover anything.
