He will test you on random tangents he goes on in class. Very rude, seems to care very little for your, your grade in the class, or your understanding. Is not clear with what he wants in essays.

Perhaps it's because I took him in a graduate class, but he was awesome. Very dry sense of humor, great lectures, and even though I wasn't initially interested in the subject, he really inspired me. Accessible outside of class and very friendly, gives good feedback that actually helps improve on future papers. Attendance and reading are required.

He's not a professor I would recommend anyone take a class taught by. He's monotonous and boring. Don't take him if you can avoid it!

I hate this class. The class lectures are nothing about the books. He just rambles on and on about god knows what until you feel like the only way out is to kill yourself. It's not that this class was hard, but HE IS NOT CLEAR ABOUT WHAT HE WANTS IN PAPERS. THEREFORE, YOU WILL FAIL. DO NOT TAKE HIM. HE IS THE WORST PROFESSOR I'VE HAD THUS FAR.

Tough grader, long and boring lectures that are not on topic with what the class should be learning. Do not recommend this professor.

No easy grades here. Head of Graduate Dept. Places pieces within historical and artistic context, similar to a good art history course. Multiple choice tests laughably easy with copious note taking and reading of material. Essay tests more difficult, no regurgitating lectures, but specific, critical thought rewarded. Enjoyed the class.

His test weren't too bad if you went to class but he was extremely rude when he gave feedback on the two assigned essays and was very picky (the smallest sentence structure details) and seemed more focused on small details rather then the overall content of the papers.

His lectures were a bit confusing to follow, but he really emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary studies of literature (which is what the class was about). Test pull on some obscure details from lectures, so take detailed notes, don't just sit and listen to discussions, and read!!

He's one of those old literature guys interested only in other old literature guys. He's not a friendly man but is relatively forgiving to students as a whole, though not individually. USE HIS ASSISTANTS. Long seemingly pointless lectures. Take notes over in class power points. Do all the readings and wikisearchsparknotes the rest.

DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! His grading on the essays are inconsistent. He just goes on and on in lecture about any topic he wants. Some may be on tests, some not.

This teacher is the worst I've ever taken in my WHOLE entire schooling career. He is rude, belittles students, and doesn't teach what the test is over. He puts things on the test that he didn't talk about in class and rambles about nothing. No reviews or help outside of class. The class is boring and he sucks at his job. Take someone else

This is not a 2".0 and Go" class. If you want "easy" then this is not for you. If you plan to go to Grad school this class should give you an idea about what's ahead. His lectures can be boring. However, take diligent notes. His intent is to make you think. critically. It is challenging, be prepared for that. Your papers & exams will be difficult.

VERY hard grader. he knows exactly what he wants (Formalist approach to everything) and if you don't give it to him, you will not pass. whatever you do, don't make any grammar mistakes. EVER. Talks very slow, but loud. He seems like a really interesting man, but I can't stand the formalist in him at all.

I took him for Eng. Novel and it was AWFUL! He hardly gives you any material in lecture that isn't what other critics said, digresses to a confusing level, always behind several days on lecture and still expects you to take the tests when they're scheduled. Using the little information he does give you in class is forbidden in papers, you will fail

He's definitely the kind of professor who you will have to pay close attention to. Take notes, listen well, and do the readings. You'll do well if you can do that. He's very kind and willing to help you. People stopped coming to class, and I can only assume they didn't do very well.

Unless you enjoy pain and stress, do not take any undergraduate class with this professor. If you do take his class, take diligent notes and edit your writing to an insane degree. Every sentence and word will be dissected in your papers. I am not exaggerating!

He discusses class material, but will spend a good deal of the class period talking about his favorite books and paintings and only makes a small reference as to how his favorite books and paintings connect with class material. Some of that discussion will appear on the test so you really need to be in class and pay attention.

I had him for British literature and almost wanted to kill myself. He was always rude, unclear & rarely stuck to the topic. Only take him if you want to be treated like a child when taking tests & if you enjoy being around rude and self-important people(awful TA's also). Not helpful, rude, awful grading system & by far my worst experience at TXST.

Professor is a (fill in the blank) He will not work with you at all it is do or die. There is no homework, no extra credit, just five tests (final is one of them) that make up your grade. He is not funny, not, clear, old (hard to understand), does not stay on topic, locks the doors during exams (if you are late you will be escorted to your seat lik
