Really disappointed with this professor... I like him as a person but not as a prof. He only graded on 3 things: 2 tests worth 40% of your grade each, and participiation (20%). I did all the readings, never missed class, participated, did well on the first exam, and still somehow ended up with a B+, which affected my overall gpa. Avoid if you can.

Four things go into the grade - two tests (which are fill in the blank straight from a lot of chapters in the textbook that you literally have to memorize), attendance, and a final paper. He doesn't use Blackboard at all. Gave no opportunity for extra credit. Took this for pre-med distribution, very boring and monotone and low energy. Not worth it.

He's very monotoned, I couldn't pay attention in class. But, he is a nice guy. He only grades you on 3 major things, 2 tests (which I found difficult) and the final paper (which was way easier for me)

I liked this class. But I took bioethics as a distribution and it required a lot more work than I hoped for. There were barely any assignments or tests, but the ones we did have were graded very harshly and it was almost impossible to do good and get an A. Not worth it for a distribution. Take something else that is easier.

His class is the type of class that you miss semesters after you've taken it. He creates such an incredible, engaging, and inspiring atmosphere in his class that allows you to learn so much, in regards to the subject of philosophy and your ability to think. He is an incredible, devoted, and passionate professor.

he's really nice and is definitely not out to get you but is monotone. he sometimes takes attendance but people still skipped a lot. i still never got my final paper grading back. review sessions are great! he only gives 2 short tests but if you don't know the material your average is helpless. wish we had more short tests on every chapter.

Don't take this class unless it's a major requirement. Very boring. Prof is very monotone. Required three textbooks. A LOT OF READING. First test was ridiculously hard, second not so bad. Final paper and presentation weren't hard either. I received A's on everything, but only went to class a handful of times, so he gave me a B+.

Professor Acampora is incredible & inspiring. If you're interested in philosophy or just like to think, take this class. He truly encourages class participation & discussion, critical thinking, & in-depth analysis of class material. However, if you don't like reading & putting effort into thinking about what you read, don't take this class.

The class was fairly boring but if you really read and understand the material, you should be fine in this class. I felt confused a lot of the time but I think that's because this wasn't something I was into a lot of the time. If you are just taking this for credit and have no interest in this, I would go somewhere else.

A great professor. He encouraged a lot of inter-student participation which led to overall class discussions. Very knowledgeable, very fair. The only bad thing I can say is he docked my presentation grade because I have a slight lisp, but that didn't spoil my experience as a whole. Very recommended class and professor!

Very very nice, decently easy to understand. He understood that a lot of people in the class had no experience in phi and broke down our readings so that everyone was on the same page. A lot of in class group work. only a paper, test and noncumulative final. Unfortunately he left the class mid semester for an illness.

Very good professor, and very helpful. He goes over everything in great detail, but tends to talk about more intricate subject matter during class periods. He tests on easier concepts which is a bonus, but you still walk away knowing the harder stuff. The rater below me described Dr. Acampora as meek, sincere and kind would be more accurate.

I love Dr. Acampora! I have him for Intro to Philosophy. Sure the subject matter can sometimes seem "dry" and "out there," but that's what philosophy is; thinking about complexities. Make sure you do the online software, chapter per chapter; as long as you keep up with that, you should do well on the 2 tests. Acampora is laid back and meek, greatguy

Good class. I only read the chapters assigned and do some review questions and I currently have an A average. He answers question asked really clearly. He he also teaches you how to think critically and analyze arguments even though he doesn't grade you so heavily on it. Basically he teaches you the hard stuff and grades you on the easy stuff.

HIs classes are annoying to sit through and he basically just talks about the reading. If u do the virtual textbook theres nothing new in the class. However its minimal work, dont get the reccomended book. Test is word for word the review do do it. Suck it up sit through the class and you'll get a good grade.

Interesting class, not a lot of work except for reading. However, the tests are extremely specific and difficult - if you take the course, be prepared to study!
