She struggles with teaching grammar to students. She gives a lot of homework and expects you to study for this class over other classes. You must spend extra hours getting help from English speakers to relearn the material effectively. She rarely reviews grammar and does not give any tests for grammar speaking or listening. Great person though.

Rieko Sensei is difficult to follow sometimes, usually you have to be able to follow the teacher's train of thought to really get the material. With Rieko Sensei that is almost impossible. It was usually hard to understand what homework was, & the textbook was hard to follow at times as well. Rieko Sensei means well, but she's so hard to learn from

She's disorganized. She gets off topic and forgets things. But we love her. She may not be the most thorough but she has personally motivated me over the last few semesters. She is rough in class but is a prof that cares about students. Attendance is mandatory!!! Takes some self motivation for homework and study time, but 10/10 would take again.

Sensei is a very poor teacher. She's too disorganized, her grading system is very confusing , and she explains things very poorly. I do not reccomend taking her classes.

McAdams' classes are quite disorganized and you really need to put in a lot of effort outside of class to get a decent grade. Obviously learning a language requires lots of memorization and practice. If you are not committed to spending a lot of time working on this class you can plan on doing poorly. McAdams is helpful, nice, and willing to help.

Sensei is the best! I love her most of any of the professors I've ever had! She is tough, but lovin. Japanese is indeed a hard subject, and she makes you study study study! Otherwise, how could you ever expect to understand the class? Not for the yowai. I think she's an excellent teacher, and hope she never leaves...

She moves very fast. Vocabulary is particularly neglected, so grammar and even reading the text are more difficult. The actual writing is covered well, and she is a very nice person. She can be very disorgonized, and sometimes mixes up classes or forgets that she didn't talk about something.

Rieko-senseii is a great teacher, she's really cool as a person as is always thinking of her students before herself. I'm sure it's not easy to teach your language in a different language so sometimes she is a bit unclear, but is always willing to help youif you need clarification. When I was in her classes (3 semesters of Japanese) We all loved her and thougth she was Ace! Just work hard and you'll enjoy the class loads. Tell her Keiichi said hi!

It's really the nature of foreign language study that it will require a lot of work outside the class room. This class perhaps more than most. But Rieko-sensei is a wonderful professor, and the class is an incredible learning experience.

Rieko-sensei is a great person, but I don't think she makes the best teacher. She's very unorganized in her teaching style and as a result the class learns almost nothing over the course of the semester. I've heard that she is getting better with her newer classes though.

Japanese is obviously a tough class, and Rieko does a pretty good job of teaching it. You do have to work hard and there is a lot of repetition, but she is a great teacher and knows so much.

Be prepared to study a lot outside of class because you probably won't get much out of the lectures. Assignments are sporadic and unclear. Try not to lose your head over the madness. Rieko knows the material but the course is poorly planned.
