His notes are usually not the most helpful. He is very helpful if you go to his office, if you can fit into his schedule. He's very nice but hes a tough grader and his weekly quizzes are worth more than they should be. Homework isnt collected but if you dont do it your screwed. Tests are extremely hard and hes not the greatest at teaching.

One of the best professors that I have ever taken. This is a hard class but he makes it so everyone can understand it. I would definitely recommend him to anyone that needs to take this class.

I think Dr. Hoar was good professor. Definitely better than some. You just need to do the homework and go to class. If you dont have a problem with doing homework before class so you can ask questions you'll be fine. Your algebra should be good too. I took this class after college algebra and am actually doing really well. I'd recmd. Dr. Hoar

Hoar is pretty tough but he will help you. You do problems from the book and then go over them in class. There are quite a few points in his class (4 exams and a final, weekly quizzes, and weekly online assignments) so there are ways to make up for poor exams. This class is tough with any professor. Hoar isn't too bad.

I think that he is a great prof. He is very helpful and is willing to give you more times for office hours if you can't find any that fit you schedule. Class is pretty fun, he has a good sense of humor. I would highly recommend him.

This is the second time I've had Dr. Hoar as a prof and I still think he's a great prof. His teaching style for DE's is a bit more scattered, but he is willing to answer any questions! Highly recommend him as a prof as long as you're willing to do the homework and ask questions!

While he is a funny teacher who does want the students to learn, his style of teaching makes that rather hard. He will teach new stuff the day before a test and expect you to know it for the test. Kind of hard to follow in class as he mixes sections around. Step lightly when taking him.

He is a very knowledgable teacher just when he teaches he proves everything just doesn't give you an example so you can see how to use what he just taught, so advice to anyone going to take his class ask for examples always!! Although he is one of the funnier math teachers i've ever had (given that it is hard to make math funny in the first place).

Dr. Hoar is a good Professor. He explains his lessons very well and they are easily understood. He is also very helpful via going to his office or email. His quizzes/tests are tricky at times. Web activities that you have to do each week but they are easy! Math 175 is not bad if you keep up on homework and do the word problems in the textbook!

Calc 3 is a hard class, but he wants everyone to learn. He makes class fun was very helpful when I went in for help. We would have an evening review session the night before the test and he would always come to the library and help us- definitely take advantage of this.

Easily the best math teacher I have ever had. His classes are very relaxed which makes for a good learning environment in Math. He wants you to ask questions whenever you don't understand things. His tests can get very tricky, but if you do your homework and ask for help you will do just fine.

best math teacher on campus. tells you exactly what is expected and ALWAYS makes sure your questions are answered. Very approachable too. Can be challenging, but do the homework and you'll do very well. A+!
