Comment:
I took the class in-person (face-to-face) and think I did well because I attended lectures. Knowing what I know now, I think you could do well in the class if you did not attend. The tests are difficult but the concepts all come from the textbook. The cases are challenging but also are similar to the textbook. He did curve the tests.

I definitely would not say this class is easy. You must read and reread the chapters to understand and the content is boring. There are two exams (each worth 30% of final grade) and two cases (each worth 20% of grade). He does curve a bit, so that was nice. The first exam and case are harder than the second exam/case.

Horrible professor!! He gets distracted in his lectures, doesn't thoroughly review problems or give examples. You pretty much have to read the chapters on your own and teach yourself. He could care less if you pass or fail.

Grad. level Finance. Only 3 tests and one assessment that doesn't count if you don't do well, but does count if you do do well. Read the book. Tests are mainly based on general financial knowledge and banking. Take online. He gives plenty of time to finish the test peacefully. Made an A-. Highly recommend taking the class from him.

The first test is really tough if you have been out of college for awhile. However, on each test, he allows you to have a cheatsheet with whatever you want to put on it. Be sure to know the formulas! The class is curved. Very good teacher overall and ALWAYS ready to help by email or by appointment.

took the face to face class. does lectures and gives some hints, but lectures sometimes doesn't relate to the tests. have to read the book to get the whole picture. gives reviews, but the tests are hard. one case study, which he gives plenty of time to complete.

Took online course. No surprises anywhere. Clearly sets expectations for term paper, and follows with an example through his video lecture. The exams come right out of the book, but don?t think you can wing it, you will fail. Useless chat board, but Dr. M is very responsive to e-mails. Still on my ?A? list of profs at UHCL.

Took face to face. Smart guy, did not go into detail about term paper. ask many questions as exams are hard, but if you read all assigned material than you will be prepared. Lectures are general and usually short.

Very nice and helpful professor-one of the fewest. 2 exams and one paper. Crystal clear on what he wants in paper and discuss the material using real worls example. very easy but don't scale up much. Ususally the average is very good

On line course. Chats are not mandatory. Heavy use of text and both exams are taken right out of it. Paper definitely takes some time, but is not difficult. I learned a ton of real world financial information from this course. Dr. M is very approachable, and clear on his expectations. Still one of the best at UHCL.

Two exams, one paper over a company's 10k report. Very clear on what was needed for paper. Exams had to really know the material to do well.

One of the best at UHCL. Great guy, learned a lot. Applies material to real life. Tests can be tricky, but he grades fairly. Paper takes some work, but not too bad. I'd take him again.

Dr. M is great. The flexibility in the online class is awesome, unless you are a procrastinator. You have 10 quiz grades and 2 cases studies. He drops the lowest two quiz grades. Definitely would retake.

Nice, fun and funny. Links concepts to real life. Exams are 30-40 MC and he let us bring 1 page of notes to use on exam. VERY little math, more concept driven course. 3 exams and two case projects, but he grades the case projects very leniently. Probably the easiest grad class I'll ever have.

Good professor, grades very fair for project, tests are mostly conceptual with little "number crunching". This was an online class, and he was very clear in the chat discussions and helpful to answer any questions. Definately take him.

Very knowledgable, links the subject matter to real life examples. Easy exams, got very good understanding of the subject matter. Made potentially dry finance very intersting. Very fair in grading, not too hard exams and projects/assignments/presentations are a real hit sure A in presentations.
