Her entire course grade is made up of 4 grades. Says that her office hours will help you but when you go she just talks for hours. Her teaching style is basically talking at you the entire class. Her grading is very particular and she prides herself on her class being a tough one to pass. Honestly one of the worst profs I've encountered at OSU.

Professor Wheeler is very knowledgeable, although she can be very condescending. Make sure you read the books, because her exams are mainly quote analysis, but class basically consists of going over the sections you read so make sure to go. The class was very similar to my high school English courses, so I didn't find it to be that difficult.

Roxanne expects a lot from her students so you have to be focused and hardworking if you want to do well in her class. Going to office hours is key to getting a good grade on her papers because she is a tough grader and you want to make sure that you are identifying/analyzing correctly and thoroughly.

Very sweet woman. She's definitely a difficult grader, but I still admired her throughout the class. You will have to put in a lot of work in order to get a good grade, but I'm glad I took this class. I like her choice in books and the discussions we had on a daily basis were mind-opening and entertaining.

She's really willing to help you during office hours, but there is a ton of reading. Like 50-100 pages before each class. The books are weird and not the typical fiction you'd think of. There's no homework besides reading, and the only grades are 2 tests, one 6 page paper, and participation, each worth 25%. The exams are made to examine the book.

This class is difficult for a GE, but not impossible. She likes to help you perfect your papers and is good about working with students. I personally disagree with how she taught literature, but I can see progress in my writing. This class is not fantastic and is highly demanding, but it is not as bad as it could be.

Roxanne is a difficult teacher and expects a lot from a GE course. However, she is eager to work with you and very nice. Sometimes over the top nice if that exists. I suspect that she is a name grader, but I am happy with how she grades my stuff. I would recommend avoiding it, but this is not the end of the world.

This is far and away the worst class I have taken in my life. She teaches English in the most linear manner possible, only accepting one answer for a complex issue. She is also the worst name grader I have ever had. Stay away from this class at all costs-it will kill your GPA and you will not be happy.

Horrendous. Roxann is rude, unclear, unfriendly, and clearly disinterested in helping students understand her class material (which happens to be incredibly difficult). Avoid at all costs!

It's not Roxanne, it's Roxann. For over 2 hours I spent my classtime looking out the window or just not paying attention...you really only need to read in order to do well...Sometimes we'd have to write a paper on one book and at the same time have to read something that is over 400 pages. Unclear on what she wants from you in papers...

Roxanne actually was able to stir my interest in the material very well. Her selections were good for the most part, and it's obvious she loves her work. Some of the primary and supplementary readings were dry, but you can't expect to love everything you read. She's difficult, but invested in your success if you show that you care.

the antithesis to any great and inspiring teachers you've had before. generally just lacks good social manners -- cutting you off while you're speaking, loves awkward silences, rude comments on papers, telling you you're wrong in front of everyone. bad professor.

I hated most of what we read and load was pretty rough. Don't take her if you hate small group work. The handouts she gave us didn't clarify things and discussion never helped me to understand. Every time I volunteered in class (which was 20% of my grade) nothing was right enough. Basically, she made my life miserable for 10 weeks.

She demands a lot of critical thinking, discussion, and engagement. She also requires papers written for the class, and does not grade them easily. I have really taken a lot from the two classes I've taken with her though. She's great if you're bored with dull cake English classes. Definitely recommended if you like feminist theory/ gender studies!

I didn't think Roxanne was so bad. He class on the early novel was really interesting and I thought the assignments were really helpful to my actual education, not something you can usually say about homework. It was a real pleasure to take this class.
