Solid professor. She teaches what we need to know very well. I base quality of the lectures on how much I need to study for the exam. In the case of this class, I hardly needed to study for the exams, because the lectures were helpful. She's insanely liberal, which was annoying at first, but it enriches the experience to confront different views.

Professor Seguino is an extremely accomplished professor. Get the chance to know her and she will help you out! Best professor at UVM. Do the readings and do not be afraid to go to office hours. Highly recommend EC53, great D1 and she is really passionate and knowledgable about the subject.

I appreciate her; she wants you to succeed. With that said, she is a tough grader! I do not know if anyone can get a 100% & I heard a lot of students say, "I just want a B." She takes attendance. The class I took was about the economic significance of race & she nailed it! Very interesting material. Readings- not a must. Just take good notes.

I was a little nervous based on the reviews, but Seguino is good. Lectures are very clear and coherent. If you go to class, you will understand the material, and need not even get the book. Tests were pretty easy so long as you had a basic understanding of the lectures. Very great lecturer, very interesting class.

Professor Seguino really cared about the class and made discussions of a difficult topic interesting. There was a lot of writing, but on the whole she cared about the class and wanted to see kids do well as long as the participated. Attendance was graded and participation was a must.

She is the worst professor i have ever had at UVM. She refuses to respond to any e-mails, has the toughest exams. I am an econ major and I struggled in her class. avoid her at all costs if you can!

In addition to lectures you'll be assigned a group recitation - hour a week, and a 'volunteer project' in town for 8 total hours of work. There's a paper on the volunteer project, a group research paper, and 3 exams. The tests are all scantron and questions are based off the lecture, take good notes. I never opened the book once and got an A.

Very terrible prof, trust me. Just don't choose her intro class. The class is boring and tough. The tests will make you have no idea about this class.

Very hard to communicate with. Refuses to respond to emails and will only tie questions during her office hours (which usually take place during other class times). Does not explain material well or care about how students are doing with material. Works very much on her own agenda.

Was hoping for at least a C+ But oh well. She's passionate about economics but sometimes 'digresses' too much in the lecture. She's very interactive and stern but wants you to succeed. Good taste in music. Makes it clear she will not respond to emails. Take her only if you need the class credit. Great lady.

Her EC 240 seminar was one of the best classes I've taken at UVM. Seguino is an engaging teacher and she clearly loves what she does. Her research focuses on development and macroeconomics. She assigns a mix of heterodox & neoclassical readings and she's refreshingly critical. Also has good taste in music. Do the readings and you'll be fine.

Professor Seguino has a lot of experience and knows what she is talking about. Her lectures are intimidating because she flies through the material and doesn't stop to repeat herself. You have to take good notes because her exams are based solely on what she covers in class, not on the book. Exams are easy though! Interesting class if you like Econ

Not very nice. Has stated that the class has been "dumbed down" in comparison to prior years but is still very difficult to follow. She gives information very fast, and refuses to go back to previous points/slides. Tells you to take extensive notes of basically every single word coming out of her mouth, and expects you to know a lot about economy.

Doesn't explain concepts very well. If not for a secondary econ course I was taking, I would have failed. Go to every class and take good notes! I recommend getting some basis for economics prior to taking this course.
