Took a Investigation of Kennedy Assassination class with him and Tod Burke, BEST CLASS. Both professors are GREAT and easily the best I'd have at Radford. 1-2 page paper on certain topic due almost every week with a final group project at the end. Don't let all that scare you, they will work with you. Best professors at RU hands down.

Dr. Owen is without a doubt the best professor I have ever had throughout my 18 year educational career. Had him for four classes in graduate school. Brilliant man and always willing to help his students.

Dr. Owen is by far the best teacher I've ever had in my educational career. He makes the class very interesting and you learn information that is actually useful towards the criminal justice field. I highly recommend taking his class. There are no exams but be ready to type papers and do group work.

the majority of this class was group work, and I must say that it gave a new found interest in Private Security. Although its only offered in one section once a year i highly recommend giving Security Administration a try. I absolutely loved it and Owen is a great professor

Wonderful CRJU professor!! wish I had taken his classes before, however, DO NOT TAKE 490 unless you plan on doing a lot of busy work!! Not an easy elective like I thought it would be, I had more work due in this class than any other by far, but it was not hard just busy! He was still awesome, and if its a 3 hour class, expect to stay the whole time

Dr. owen is a great professor, and is very helpful. His security class is based almost entirely on group work, which begins to wear on you by the end of the semester. Quizzes are easy. No Final. Just 6 or 7 group projects that are VERY in depth.

GREAT PROFESSOR! He is amazing at teaching. You will learn so much from him. Lots of group work and a final group book club project which isnt that bad. No tests, just quizzes that are fairly easy. He takes students on a tour of a local jail which is cool too. Very good teacher overall! Would take again!

Comment:

Extremely interesting class. Lecture is not mandatory, but make-up assignments are often harder than ones assigned in class. Lots of class participation. Book club project instead of a final exam - it ends up being a lot of work outside class, but it's fun. Owen is very smart, helpful, and crystal clear. Highly recommended.

Dr. Owen is AWESOME!! He knows his material and makes it fun to learn for you. He really works with you and makes sure you understand him. He doesn't second guess you or make you feel unwelcome like some professors do. I would recommend him to ANYONE ANYWHERE ANYTIME!!! He is also a wonderful and MOST helpful person outside of the classroom!!

Dr Owen's graduate level Public Policy was a challenging class. Make sure that you are prepared by reading the articles he assigned. Just scheme through them -- he rarely will ever directly call on you. Make sure you pic a good topic that has plenty of article research ... because you will use the same topic all the way through. Got an "A"!

A bit overwhelming on the first day of class. Course seems harder than it actually is. After the first day I thought I would be doing good to get a C. Demanding on the paper, tests aren't too much trouble if you go to class take notes and study them. Overall a great teacher, would definitely take one his classes again.

He's very easy if you take the time to read what he tells you to. I learned a fair amount of info but the class is VERY similar to Intro to Forensic Science. Know your notes well and know general info from the readings and the class will be fine.
