Comment:
Dr. Brown has very high expectations of his students. If you want to learn from one of the top professors in his field, then take the course, but be ready to work hard. If you think you can just show-up, not work hard, not study, then you better not take the course! Dr. Brown is "Old School" and you better be ready to work and earn your grade!

Comment:
Dr. Brown virtually invented Q methodology, so learning stats from him is a privilege. Sure, you'll have to practice formulae on your own...but aren't all undergrad/grad students adults, able and willing to contribute to their own learning? I took his grad class nearly 15 years ago but I still remember his teachings.

OK the guy knows what the hell he is talking about. just don't expect him to be able to teach that to you. as long as you know how to do the formulas you will be fine just knowing where to plug is stuff is half of the battle though. go to any help he has you should be fine

Really knows his stuff, but elaborates on unimportant details. Very dry and difficult to pay attention to. Very willing to help students.

Comment:
Though the topic was unconventional for a writing intensive seminar, I really enjoyed the class. It was unique and thought provoking. My only issue was how long it took Dr. Brown to grade papers. He expects you to utilize knowledge learned in a political research class and apply it in a true writing intensive seminar. Excellent prof.

He seems to know what he talks about but he cant really seem to express what he is trying to teach. He should try and write hs lectures on paper, have some review it for him, edit it, and then have him just hand out handouts to everyone. His lectures drag on and his examples have a loose connection. Plus, hardly anything is from the book?

A very difficult class, but a good professor. He was easily approachable outside of class. Very dry lectures, but helpful.

In response to the previous comments, Dr. Brown is one of the nations top political statisticians. This is why he depends on stats so much. I took his class almost ten years ago, and I still recall many of our class discussions. He is very approachable and yes at times dry, but Dr. Brown is an asset

Comment:
This prof is horrible! Why does the dept have him teaching an Intro class? He's just going to turn more students away from Poli-Sci. His lectures are extremely boring, he rambles on a subject way too long. Not much prep for exams and over-reliant on statistical concepts. Avoid if possible!
