Professor Collins was pretty bad but he was also pretty decent. Not my worst professor by a long shot. He tried to convince his students that they already knew how to solve problems and need not rely on memorized formulas. Hmmmmm. Sorry haters but I kinda agree. Check your attitude at the door, go to class, relax, listen and realize.

The entire staff in the COE already knows he is the worst professor on the payroll, the forced sabbatical story is true, and he tells you specifically not to take notes in class. As a mechanical, I cant decide if I despise him, or the brown nosing electrical engineers I took the class with more. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Every time i listen to him talk i want to punch him in his smug little face. Terrible lecturer, he doesn't give you any feedback on homework or tests. Constantly emphasizing that you shouldn't need to memorize equations, and that this knowledge is inherently in all of us already... then gives us a pop quiz on an EQUATION. Worst. Professor. Ever.

Collins was the worst prof I have ever had. He did not give either midterm back before the final. He scheduled the 2nd midterm the day after Thanksgiving break, then sent out an email the day before moving it back 2 days. He was in an elevator with some students who said hello, and he did not respond, he just stared straight ahead.

horrible teacher. just so you all know, he's been complained about SO MUCH, that he's been put on a forced sabatical. no kidding. sufficient reason to stay away from him if he ever comes back to educate, er, I mean, afflict the campus.

I didn't actually have him for a class, but he was actually my advisor, and my experiences with him were TERRIBLE. He offered absolutely no help, was incredibly condescending, and was one of the main reasons I switched majors. He's awful.

probably one of the most boring ever. his dry sense of humor and 10 second pauses between sentences do not help in the enjoyment of this class. the course is seemingly unorganized and ad libbed and if you are a mechanical, this will seem like a complete waste of your life.

Even though Collins is an engineering professor he would be better off in the Philosophy department. During lecture he brings up very few new concepts and then tries to tie them in with some sort of Socretes quote. Tries to act like a hard a** at first, giving pop quizzes and calling people out in lecture but settles down over the semester.

Unpleasant, robotic, and overly difficult - I once came to his office hours to explain I was struggling and needed help and he basically just told me I would probably fail the class. I didn't, but it certainly wasn't because of any help he gave me.

Very unfair, HW helps you learn but his grading policy is pretty much stupid and pointless. Ambiguous and unclear. He's no better than a "Windows® Narrator" as far as lectures.

Very clear lecturer in 57:18, horrible in 55:40. It is like having completely different teachers for those two classes. Homework for both classes help a great deal. Make sure to read the book if you want to do good in the final for both classes (especially PEI). Try to avoid him for 55:40.

Describes things in class with clarity, knows his stuff well. However feedback is more or less non-existant. Tests take problems that would be doable, and are made nearly impossible, or overly hard. Grading is worthless on homework, and tests are graded paticularly hard, especially in Lin Sys.

His final exam is ridiculous. He is ridiculous. He expects alot out of his students, but doesn't really aid them with his lectures. Unfortunately, if you have to take this class, it looks like you're stuck with SMC. All I have to say is Socks and Sandals.... Avoid taking a class taught by him.
