It was really amazing to see such a passionate professor teach something in their field. He goes the extra mile to connect with international students and engage his students and also respect cultures. The class is very easy as long as you keep up with the reading plus he offers tons of extra credit. Would 1000/1000 take him again for any class!

Talk about a professor who REALLY cares about his students. It is so evident that he loves what he does and he makes sure we completely understand whats going on. Theres only 5 tests that make up your total grade, he drops the lowest one. Lots of extra credit lecture opportunities. I cant stress enough that you SHOULD take him. READ your book!!

Super nice professor who truly cares about the subject. His classes are lecture heavy but he's very funny. Tests are difficult, but if you do as much extra credit as possible (he offers a LOT), you can pass with an A just fine. 4 tests (one of which is dropped), a group project, and a final paper. I would definitely take it again.

Loved his class! I highly suggest taking him for Theories of culture. He was very direct with what you have to do in order to do well in the class from day one. He assigns a lot of reading and the exams are based from the readings. He has a big paper due at the end of the semester that I suggest not to procrastinate on.

i really like him for cultural anthropology! he gives lots of extra credit opportunities, and the only grades you have are the 5 exams you take, which are all multiple choice. As long as you read the text and you're in class to see the movies that he shows, then you should be good.

Yelvington is one of the best professors I've ever had. He is extremely helpful, caring, funny, and passionate about anthropology and teaching. The class is very easy if you go to lectures (which are somewhat boring at times) and do the readings. I highly, highly recommend taking Yelvington for Cultural Anthropology.

Great professor all around. He is an expert in his field and loves to share what he knows. He was always willing to help. I'd highly recommend him, especially for Theories of Culture. If you take the time to do the readings (a lot) then you should be just fine. No tests, just papers (I was able to retain much more information that way).

He's not the most eloquent lecturer but he's very passionate and knowledgable about the material. I've had no problem as far as the tests matching to the lectures, but I went to all the lectures and read the book. I aced all of the tests with very very minimal studying.

he is very nice, and wants to be liked. his lectures are kinda boring, but you don't really need to take notes, just listen. and make sure you are in class for the videos. you get to drop your lowest test grade, and there is no paper or anything. it's a pretty easy A.

Trash the syllabus, he doesn't go by it, the lectures and exams have little to do with each other, and the final paper is horrid! If you need an ANT library book, you'll find it among the 300 checked-out books in his office. Good luck getting it.
