Comment:
Professor Weiss has a deep understanding of the subjects he teaches. His notes are clear and concise and you will be expected to know almost everything in them. He is a hard, but fair grader. You get very specific feedback and if you follow it, you will improve. He is also very prompt with returning grades, a rarity at Hunter.

This class is hard and you will have to put in work. The exams are 70% of your grades. They are difficult but not tricky so if you study his lecture notes, you will do well. Prog assignments are fair and he gives enough time for each. He is a great professor and you will learn a lot from this class. He is very organized and also curves generously.

The professor himself while being knowledgeable about the topics is not a good professor, I expect to end with a B-B+ range score; however, his teaching style is not sufficient nor is his pdf's regarding topics. There were 70+ students in his two classes this semester, there are now 20 for both classes. Avoid at all costs, Test heavy, very hard.

Professor Weiss was a great professor. The material was presented in a clear, organized manner and the projects reinforced the content we learned in class. His notes are also great and I find myself frequently referring back to them even though I have finished the class. The course can definitely be challenging at times but you'll learn a lot!

This class was a LOAD of fun and very challenging. Parallel computing is rapidly expanding field as we reach the limits of moores law. Prof Weiss does an outstanding job walking you through Quinn's material and topic relevant information. His experience rubs off, a must for your CSCI career. The course material and past assignments are on his site.

Weiss is awful. He makes the course insanely difficult and his exams are a nightmare. He's a tenured old fossil who's ways won't change. He will also talk down to you for asking too many questions or not grasping the material as quickly as he would like. Most students fail this course and even more drop it halfway in. He lectures. He doesn't teach.

OMG! Please, avoid at all costs. Terrible teacher, terrible person. He thinks too much about himself while he teaches Perl, a programming language that is barely used anywhere. I would not recommend taking this class, there are better professors in the computer science department who know how to teach and care about their students.

Prof. Weiss makes this course very difficult. By the end of the class half the class dropped it and from the half remaining, only half of us passed. Projects are difficult and long and exams are very difficult. Must know his notes in and out and practice the material. However, he is very organized and an excellent presenter. Very knowledgeable.

Terrible teacher. Avoid at all costs. Is not there to help you when you need him. Expects you to know how to do assignments a specific way and doesn't give proper directions or assistance. DO NOT TAKE HIM. ROTTEN APPLE OF THE COMP SCI DEPARTMENT

Very strict professor. Midterms and projects are so difficult that you are might wonder if he gives them just to make you feel bad. It's clear that he knows his stuff but he's really unhelpful.

Extremely strict. The course is unnecessarily difficult to the point where he is considered shallow and pedantic. He doesn't test theory, but will dock a lot of points for missing semicolons. Avoid!

This professor explains things thoroughly and he explains things well however he is not helpful at all and makes you feel stupid for questions you ask. I, however, like the fact that his exams are challenging. He doesnt strictly follow the textbook which can be sometimes difficult to follow him.

Excellent professor. Teaches the subject as clearly as possible and he knows his stuff. As long as you have an aptitude for programming then you'll find the exams and projects easy. But if you can't program you can't do well in this class. If you have no programming experience , practice is crucial. Take Csci 136 if it's available.

He is a good professor out of the dept, but his class is very tough. He gives 2 midterms and a final and three projects. If you don't study or you have two other hard classes with his class, drop the class. My only recommendation is to practice everyday and read ahead of time. His exams are the key and crucial to passing.

He is the best professor I ever seen in the department. Very clear and fair when in grading. Like the other guy say, those who hate him are those who are not willing to learn. Too bad I cant take his class anymore because I completed all the courses he is teaching.

He is the best professor in the dept hands down. I took him for every class I could. Sure he's tough, but you learn something in the end. Most people who dislike him are those who just want to coast through the class without applying themselves. If that describes you, then stay away. But if you want to learn something - take with Prof Weiss!
