Comment:

Kubota-sensei is really easy for JPN. She barely keeps up with attendance or hw, but she's isn't as helpful as Uotate-sensei. She's also not as strict, but then again beginning Japanese is a breeze. You have to show up to class and the textbooks and stuff are required.

Comment:

Took Beginning 1 with her. Her class is difficult, but it's Japanese. Of course it is! She cares about your success, and she is really good about helping you out. She relies a lot on English, but she'll make sure you know how to write.

Comment:

I took Kubota sensei for all of Beginning and now all of Intermediate. While she can be spacy sometimes, and rely too much on English... she knows what she is doing. She helps you learn the language by focusing more on grammar and focusing on problem areas for English speakers. Just get the work done and you should have no problem getting an A.

Worst Teacher EVER! One girl broke down crying in the middle of class. Know all your hiragana and katakana and basic kanji before you take this class. I recommend taking Nakamura-sensei over this women any day. Be ready to put in 3+ hours a night for this class just to scrape a B in the class.

Kubota-sensei is not extremely difficult, but Japanese is not extremely easy. The class moves very quickly, but if you put in the time, you will get a good grade. If you are going to take JPN1130, learn hiragana and katakana BEFORE you start class. You will have a considderable head start that will save you a lot of time and stress.

Kubotasensee is very enthusiastic about teaching the subject which can help a lot because the material can be difficult. She usually gives straightforward tests with a good review. You must put a lot of time into the class to get a good grade

Her Japanese is horrible and she has a bad accent. She's also very disorganized. It's easy to coast through her class but you won't learn anything. Best to take Ioroi's class. You learn more and she is an absolute sweetheart.

Kubota-sensei is my favorite professor from my time at UF. She is that rare non-native that speaks Japanese just like a native, giving you the best of both worlds. Besides being a great teacher, she is a fabulous and funny human being.

Kubota Sensei's classes are highly informative...if you're motivated enough to study. And studying is a MUST. Her tests are difficult, as she usually writes them herself. Make extensive use of her office hours!!! It's a real help!

Prof. Kubota is very interesting and a good teacher. She lived in Japan for several years so she has some interesting stories, I'd reccomend her. Hard tests but all the Japanese courses use the same tests so it's a moot point.
