Comment:
Would not take this class if youre a student that works at least 20 hours a week. She expects you to read multiple novels along with even more articles. While the exams are Marjory lecture based, there are NO EXAM REVIEWS so take good notes. This class requires an unreasonable amount of time.

Comment:
Comes from high class in own country, hostility toward American Society some warranted as it's related to domestic violence, but some not. Strong political agenda and an angry person. Test and quiz questions written in hard to decipher manner. Lengthy observation times. This class takes more time than 3 classes to pass.

This was by far the worst online class I've taken. She grades you down arbitrarily for reasons not listed in the rubric, will not give points back for errors on her part (ex. not coding answers into the exams), makes you go through materials completely unrelated to the course subject, and more. I was so excited for this class but regret taking it.

She was very hard to understand. I didn't learn as much as I thought I would. I lived in this environment of women being second class here in America, so learning about women in other countries only reminded me of the United States. Women are developing everywhere. Some of the materials were meaningless, and not connected to what the class tittle.

Dr. Datta-Sandhu was a paradox of a professor. On the one hand, the material she gave her students to read was incredibly interesting and enlightening. On the other hand, there was no organization behind it. She was kind and passionate, but rarely objective. I enjoyed the class, but unfortunately, I feel that I didn't learn as much as I had hoped.

This class was interesting, but she's incredibly subjective and she never presents two sides of anything. She never gave me the impression that she's a knowledgeable person but rather that she reads a few political blogs and shares her emotions on the topic. This class is not based on hard facts or logical thinking- just Sushi's opinions.

I was disappointed in this class, I heard highly of the content and the professor. Unfortunately it was very far below my expectations, the content was highly subjective and one-sided, hardly political in the slightest, and she wasn't testing how well you know the material, but how well you CAN GUESS HER OPINION IS on the material. Unprofessional.

Dr. Datta-Sandhu, it pleasant and her teaching style is relaxed. While she is certainly the haughty, opinionated, liberal academic-type, she is warm and approachable. She is a quality professor and I would suggest her courses.

Prof. Datta-Sandhu is one of the best professors I had at WMU - and this class was extremely high-quality. She's interesting, knowledgeable, challenging and very warm. It's not an easy class - masters level, but very rewarding. And isn't college a bit about intellectual challenges and growth?? You want to know this great lady.

A very good teacher. I enjoyed going to her classes each week. Discussions were enjoyable, and many people in the class took part. A little bit on the difficult side, but if you put some extra work in your grade will reflect your effort!

She doesn't really explain anything without bias. I did learn a lot from all the reading. She shows a lot of very boaring movies and spends two and a half weeks on class presentations that are devided between two classrooms at the same time and includes information from them in the exam.

her classes were filled with interesting information if you take women in developing countries be ready for course packs and book readings as long as you pay attention and stay somewhat active you will be fine she takes attendance and grades depend on the TA mostly who does all the grading and test/ papers are mostly on opinion

Dr. Datta-Sandhu's Women in Developing Countries Class was informative and eye opening. Unfortunately her tests were opinionated and not formal with many of the answers seeming right. Her class consisted of a short thirty minute lecture of her own experiences and then she would pop in a movie and leave. Five exams!

She showed a ton of movies and left early every day (with the TA in charge). I just read Rubin's analysis of kinship for another class and I feel cheated; Dr. Sandhu makes it seem like sunshine and puppy dogs. She really needs to work on her objectivity and present both view-points.

In a class on African politics she was discussing her hatred of Sec.State Rice and how she loves Barak Obama.I asked her if she could even list one political issue that he legislated. She could notrespond, she didn't know any.Hmmm, sounds like a wise teacher supporting people she knows nothing about.Anecdotal story? Yes, but there are hundreds.

One of the three BEST professors I've ever had. Prof. Datta-Sandhu's shyness and/or reservedness may initially be perceived as aloofness. But, she was willing to assist, explain, help one-on-one, and take (after class time) to explain and clarify. If you're willing to attend class, learn, and work, take any class by Prof. Sushi Datta-Sandhu.

Comment:
This professor confirms the belief all that is true about the aphorism, "She preaches instead of teaches." Gone are the days when students could engage in academic and civil discourse. She not only stifles this but encourages mindless "feelings" as opposed to an actual study of logic, reason and fact in politics. You will learn nothing.
