Comment:

This was by far the easiest "science" course I have ever taken. However, because of the sheer amount of assignments, I put in more work for this than my harder courses. He didn't grade the majority of our important assignments until several weeks after the semester ended. If you can write a lab report, you will not benefit from taking this class.

This class can be frustrating but if you have Dr. O'Brien as your professor you can minimize that frustration by putting in effort. He is tough but you cannot argue with the results specially continuing on the bio IV and so on.

Really fun. Not hard if you pay attention in lecture. Don't skip if it's your first time learning the material. Will answer questions as best he can. Lots of office hours. Study guides are the exams. Labs are group work. Would recommend and would take again

Terry O'brien reminds me of Patrick Star. He's very pink, a funy guy with witty jokes, but can be a vague in his descriptions. Overall, friendly but does not explain specific details on exams. He wants YOU to ask him the questions. P.S: study guide questions will be on the exams.

Dr. O'Brien was great! I took him for bio 3 (for transfer students) which was a writing intensive course. I think he deserves better than a 3.8. Though he did give quite a bit of work, he was always fair and explained things well. He was also very nice and easy to talk to. I got an A- and you definitely can too if you just put in the work

This professor is very passionate at what he teaches and tries his best to make it fun to learn. He likes to lecture and sometimes he even takes over the lab period to continue with lectures. He does give a lot of tests and quizzes but if you study what you learn in the powerpoints you'll do fine.

Professor for Biology 3t. Assignments are easy but there are a LOT of them. The class uses the "flipped classroom" concept so assignments are due before class and class time is used to discuss. Many assignments are group projects so attendance is necessary. He is very helpful and always has office hours. Con: he takes a LONG time to grade things.

BIOMETRY: The class is just super boring, I don't think he can make it very interesting. But he does have a hard voice to listen to. He grades your labs super critically. You will also have to do a presentation and pointless lab reports. You need to show up to class so you can work in a group for labs. overall not hard but extremely boring

Definitely knows the info but laughs at his own jokes more than teaching. His voice kind of makes it hard to focus, not to mention that he teaches with the lights off from a power point. I find myself on Facebook or shopping online more than paying attention in his class. Reviews well for the test so tests aren' hard if you pay attention those days

Comment:

Your grade depends on the class average which makes people in your class hesitate to study with you. Probably the worst way to assign grades to biology pre-medical majors that are already competitive enough. Also, never answers your questions. I got so frustrated with him at the end of the semester and went to his office hours where he helped me.

I don't recommend taking this professor if you plan on slacking. He makes the class tough. If you have a question and need help he's almost useless. Also, he grades in a way that makes the class competitive. Your grade depends on what the class average is. That was the most stressful part of this class.

pretty good teacher. his tests aren't too difficult (includes m.c & fill in the blank) and he gives out a study guide before with the exact questions. his powerpoints are helpful, but if you ask him a question he gives really ambiguous answers. took forever to grade papers ("because he's chair"), but he's still a good teacher, i learned a lot.

Expects a TON of work from you for very little points. Attendance counted towards your grade, if you were late more than 3 times you couldn't get an A. Only answers questions with other questions so is very unhelpful in that respect. Nice enough guy, although lectures tend to be boring he'll sneak in some cheesey jokes now and then.

Answer the questions in the outline for the chapter and study guide before the test, study for quizzes, take good lecture notes & you should do well on the test. Don't expect him to give you answers- he'll "guide" you to the answer. Attendance policy is strict & participation can help/hurt your grade, so try to do your best. I liked the class.

Seems like he's very clear with what he wants but he's a VERY hard grader! Review sessions are worthless and is not too clear when answering questions. Kind of an odd man, but the lectures are interesting enough. I'd recommend him if you want to work your butt off for a mediocre grade, otherwise pass on his class!

Good prof --- if you do your part to keep up with the course. The last couple of revs. aren't what a lot would say. Looks like sour grapes. Can anyone fairly say having to attend or participate is unfair?
