Horrible professor. He loves to talk down to students and is incoherent at best. He can never finish a sentence. I recommend you avoid him.

Yu was awesome because every time he introduced a new concept, he would explain it both in abstract terms (algebraically) and in physical terms (geometrically) which was really helpful. People complained but that was because they were dumb and didn't read the text. It was an easy and enjoyable class. I learned a lot and would take it again.

You should take most of these reviews (especially the bad ones) with a grain of salt.A serious student will not have any trouble following his lectures. He presents what needs to be known in a clear, logical, and concise manner. His tests foster the kind of thinking necessary to master further topics.

Yu is definitely a smart guy, though he appears unorganized on the surface. As long as you're paying attention, lectures are easy to understand. Exact exam topics are posted on his website, along with a practice test that's basically the same as the actual test. No reason to avoid this prof.

Prof Yu is unbelievably bad. I have no idea how he ever go his PhD. His way of teaching (if you can call it that): not finishing 80% of his sentences be very unorganized, moronic, and have a really big ego. I am looking forward to a class w/McLaughlin

i had him for multivar and now i have him for advanced calc. he's definately much better at teaching upper level courses, but still has a somewhat disorganized and hard to follow teaching style. no doubt though, he is actually wicked smart.

yu doesn't make much sense. his lectures are hard to follow, as he makes up words and doesn't complete sentences and jumps around what he's talking about. his tests are confusing also. i would try to avoid this prof. in the future.

This guy is horrible!!! Can't complete a sentence and mumbles through everything he says. Tests are ridiculous and often the average value for an A what it should be to fail. Don't get this guy if you can help it!

I think math majors will benefit greatly from his style. Lectures start off looking deceptively disorganized, but quickly become quite insightful. Though he's hard to get hold of outside class, and didn't give much feedback on homework.

This guy was horrible. I stopped going to lecture for the last two months of the semester. I found him unhelpful and his tests had no relation to what was taught in class usually, anyways. The final was insane. My B must have been 'cause of huge curve.

This was by far the most unorganized and poorly taught course I have taken here at RPI. Prof Yu obviously did not care about the course or the students, and we were constantly left guessing what we were going to be tested or quized on.

Same as the guy before me -- unprofessional, completely not helpful. His lectures give zero insgiht into what he will ask on tests, and he doesn't give you much notice for them.

Not very professional, always shows up to class late. Does not give enough notice about exams. This is my second episode of discrete math and he sucks more than Schmidt.
