Fine class. Interesting stuff. A lot of material but hey, this is law school. My problem with this guy is he takes forever and a day to turn in the grades! It has been 5 weeks and still no sign of a grade. To me, that is an arrogant D move! What else does he have to do??? Read 40 pages a night shouldn't be too difficult! We did it all semester!

O'Neill is one of the best professors I've ever had in my entire life, and this was one of the best classes I've ever taken. This class WAS NOT easy. O'Neill expects a lot out of his students, but every ounce of effort that you put into this class is matched by O'Neill. He is accessible to his students at all times, and invested in their success.

Rated one of the top ten law professors in the state of Illinois by some journal, there is no way not to pay attention to this guy when he's speaking. I looked forward to class every day, even though he covers WAY too material for a 3 hour class. They should either make it a 4 hour class, or split it into two 2 hour classes.

This is the best teacher at JMLS. He is passionate about the subject, teaches VERY clearly and goes out of his way to help pre-exam. He was in a room all day just waiting for students to ask questions and even had it recorded for students who could not attend. He is very inspiring and makes criminal procedure very "fun" and interesting.

Pretty arrogant and pompous. He also has little man's syndrome. He is an angry little man. He seriously needs to relax. He is also very academic. Unfortunately, this also makes him very pie in the sky about criminal procedure. Thinks he is superior. He has not practiced law for a very long time. Just another Ivy-league d-bag.

Prof. O'Neill is great - smart, funny, approachable, straight-forward - he really cares about about his students' success. You'll work hard in his class, but it's definitely worth it. The best part is that O'Neill can make anything interesting - he could literally read the phone book & I'd be enthralled. Without a doubt, he's the best at JMLS.

My favorite law school prof. His grasp of the subject matter is incredible. Prof O'Neill has literally written more legal analysis on Crim Pro than I have READ in all subjects combined. His academic standing is enhanced by the fact that he was (long ago) a working crim lawyer, and therefore possesses the street cred alot of profs lack.

He is over rated. If you prepare as hard for all of your other class as you do for his, you would understand and do well in all of your classes. You actually have to steal preperation time from other classes so that you can prepare for his. That is not the sign of an excellent teacher.

The best professor I've had. Expect to work, but if you do, you will love the class. He has a true passion for the material and it is contagious! Does not grill the students but does challenge you. Final was very fair. Do yourself a favor and take this course from him!

If all JMLS professors were this good, the tuition would be reasonable. JMLS is lucky to have such a brilliant and personable professor. I would highly recommend this course even if you have no interest in criminal litigation.

Great Hair. He's an odd guy, more intense than Al Pachino, or the BTK serial killer, but a great teacher. John Marshall is lucky to have him. Can't believe he has remained for as long as he has - A good egg.

I agree with what everyone else has to say but here's a warning, you will work VERY VERY HARD in this class. The assignments are exceptionally long and the amount of preparation time is astounding. You will learn a lot but be prepared to work for it. Probably one of my hardest classes if not the hardest.

Is there a bigger liberal dork than Professor O'Neill. I thought he was going to cry when a defendant by the name of Innis(who had just blown out the back of a cabdrivers head with a shotgun)was tricked by two policemen into telling them where he hid the shotgun. Boo-hoo, Professor. Boo-hoo. That being said, great teacher, but a liberal weenie.
