I've loved every class with Dr. N (ENGL 2510, ENGL 3950, ENGL 4850). He makes class fun. Some have said he's a hard grader; however, once you take his first midterm and "see" his style, his tests become easy (the hardest aspect: key term memorization). He always repeats things that will be on the tests (so the questions are easy to predict).

Professor Napierkowski is awesome! I have completed one course with him as my teacher, and I am currently enrolled in another. I am actually registered to take one with him next semester, too! His lectures are very engaging, and he is funny! He expects his students to put the effort in, but he provides all of the information necessary to succeed!

I absolutely loved this course! Napierkowski is a wonderful professor who takes his course seriously and expects participation from all of his students. He makes the material interesting (especially with his tangents) and I would certainly take another course of his if I had the opportunity. He is one of my favorite professors from UCCS.

I found his analyses of old English literature pretty outdated and useless for modern literary criticism. He's okay if you plan on being an elementary school teacher, I guess.

Professor Napierkowski is probably one of the best instructors I have ever had. His approach is methodical, in depth, historically correct. He teaches students how to correctly appreciate literature. His tests are hard, but his involved lectures and ability to make the literature he teaches as not only clear but vastly meaningful.

Comment:
Napierkowski teaches very little critical thinking, and he's a pushy ideologue. He expects students to memorize his narrow Catholic vision of Chaucer and regurgitate it on tests. He also makes absurd comparative claims, as in how Chaucer surpasses Shakespeare in excellence--ridiculous and naive. Too bad, and unfair to Chaucer.

Napierkowski is honestly the best teacher I've ever had. He flawlessly combines tough definitions with humor and a fair grading system, and encourages his students to explore the subject on their own. He is always available to talk to you, and if you can't make an appointment, he'll call you or respond through email within a few hours. I highly rec

napierkowski was awesome. I took his 2 week lit class during the summer and it was actually pretty cool. He has lots of good stories and you'll be fine if you read the book, which is just a bunch of short stories. He's a nice guy too. Years later he still remembers me.

Although he is passionate about the material, his assignments and lecture style are generally uninspired. Rarely, if ever, are you encouraged to engage the text. Rote memorization may impress you if you aren't looking to be challenged, but you won't leave with much grasp of the texts other than basic plot and quickly forgotten definitions.
