Comment:

(Bad Medicine Honors Colloquium) Dr. Starks is the best professor I have had at Fayetteville! She really makes you think and pushes you to make new connections. She's also hilarious and cares about her students! I considered taking another one of her classes just so I could have her again, even though it had nothing to do with my major; fantastic!

Comment:

She is very knowledgeable on the subject and attempts to answer any and all questions. Her lectures are interesting and she tries to keep class entertaining. There are very few grades with 30% of the final grade being the paper, but she gives you a redo if not satisfied with your first grade. Super nice lady who I would recommend!

Dr. Starks is a pheomenal professor. She is very knowledgeable of the subject and is enthusiastic about sharing this knowledge. She also makes lots of jokes, which is always good. I would absolutely recommend taking a class taught by her.

Topic: Sex, Class, Race & Disease. As a colloquium, the teaching style was more relaxed and the whole class was based on readings and 3 essays. She expects your best efforts but is reasonable. She structured the course SO WELL and consistently blew my mind at every lecture. If everyone took this course from her this world would be better for it.

One of the most interesting professors I've ever had! Take her if you EVER have the room in your schedule! She absolutely loves her subject. Tough essay grader. She really expects a lot from you. But if you go to her office hours she'll gladly help you and show you an example paper. You will learn how to write a great paper in her class!

I had to take this Russian History Course as a last resort during the summer in order to graduate. It turned out to be one of the BEST courses I have ever taken in 7 years of college. Trish Starks is as good as they get!!! I could have done much better in the course if I had given more effort, but I still learned a LOT from her!

I love history even though it's not my major and this class is my favorite history that I've ever taken. She makes class interesting and really helps you understand all of the material covered. She is eager to answer any questions that she can!

This was the second time I have taken Dr. Starks. She is still AWESOME! Her passion for teaching history is why I took her. There is no slacking off in her class. If you are looking for an easy grade, this is NOT the class for you. Be prepared to study and read a lot. GOOD TIMES!!!

Brilliant. Enthusiastic. Passionate. Ready to help outside of class and through email. Doesn't play favorites, but gives you back as much as you put in. Pretty tough, but rewarding. A remarkable woman and someone who has helped me grow more as a historian than I can describe. Take this class, work extremely hard, and see how great real learning is.

She is a remarkable woman with many great stories to share. All you have to do is ask her a question and she will answer it straight forward. Exams were challenging, but if you study hard you will pass. Best professor at the U of A.

In regards to the 250-person class, I really don't understand why people had a hard time in her class. She gave a LOT of bonus to make up for the fact that there were three 30% tests in addition to two 5% quizzes. Dr. Starks has a tremendous talent for making lectures interesting due to her quarkiness, which I find a welcome sight to History.

I am an A and B student and had to drop because her tests were ridiculous! She expects you to know everything and does NOT give study guides. I had a test that comprised of right before the French Rev. to the end of World War 1. I studied extremely hard and still failed. I had a medical emergency, but got 1/2 a letter grade off for missing a quiz!

Starks is amazing. Took her for WCIV 2, changed majors. Took her again for Russian History from 1861-Present, and had it confirmed that it was where I needed to be. Her lectures are hilarious, she gives recommendations for outside reading/viewing (Ivan The Terrible Changes Professions is a gem), and grades fairly. It's college people, get with it.

DO NOT LISTEN to the ppl before that said she is a good teacher.. SHE SUCKS and yes she is crazy. Grades very hard and for the sick person that said she is hot YOUR OUT OF YOUR MIND..she is not.
