I can honestly say that his history lectures are so much fun to listen to! he keeps it fun and interesting relating it to topics today. He is hilarious and is very passionate about what he teaches. His class is all lecture based though he does have them online I suggest not missing class. His test are VERY hard though so I would study up!!

His tests are straight from the study guide. Each study guide has roughly 100 words. Memorize all of them along with their definition and you should get a 100% on his exams. He's a tough essay grader, therefore bank on your tests keeping your grade up in his class.

He gives you everything straight forward, go to class, listen to him, pay attention and don't ask him things that are in the syllabus. He can be accessed via emails and he is willing to help you but you have to approach him with the questions. Take his class if you want to become a more independent student.

I coughed in class. He pointed at me and said, "You coughed. You're the one that made me sick." I knew he was joking but he terrified me so much I forced myself not to cough for the rest of the class. 10/10 would take him again.

History may be boring for me, but Professor Tristan is what made it actually intriguing. Your tests are based on his Powerpoints and some of the readings in the textbook, so a lot of memorization is needed to do well. His lectures are very interesting though, and you'll thank yourself for coming to class every session when it comes to test day.

GOOD LUCK! Your grade is based off 4 exams. 2 fill in the blank exams with NO word bank, an in class essay, and the final. Honestly, for it being a GE, makes the class too difficult. Do not take his class if you struggle in History.

Your grade is based off your total points from all of your tests, which are all fill in the blank WITH NO WORD BANK PROVIDED. Avoid if you dislike this testing and grading style. Doing well is honestly do-able though if you actually study and put in effort. He's respectable, and makes it very clear what he expects of you as a student in his class.

As long as you take study guide notes, which he provides to you, and take notes during class, you'll have an easy A in this class. I studied for his midterm one day before and got an A. He is hilarious, his lectures are fun, he gives in-character dialog which is nice, and his class is an easy A. If you need HIST271, then take him if you can.

3 books to read over the course of the semester. 2 were about 300 pages each, while the 3rd was about 800 pages. There's an open-ended essay + presentation, 1 exam each for the short books, 2 exams for the longer book. 2 exams are essay, 2 are fill-in-the-blank. Not a terribly hard class, but depends on classmates (WW2 can be touchy for some).

If you're looking for an easy class with minimal studying, go elsewhere. He has 3 tests which are ALL fill in the blank along with 3 in-class book essays. It's A LOT. The only way to get through is to come to class every day and pay attention to his story-telling. He's very knowledgeable about history, his passion helps you remember for the tests

Traviola just took over CSUN's WWII history course and I would recommend it to anyone who is interested. It is not a terribly difficult class but you will need to read the assigned books for the in class essays and exams. The class is very participation friendly, it is not a difficult class as long as you keep up with the reading.

If reading is tough for you or if you have a hectic schedule do not take this class. His lectures are all over the place because he expects you to read and teach yourself everything. The tests are also tough to deal with because there is no multiple choice. I normally get straight A's but found myself struggling tremendously through this class.

He is one of the funniest professors I've ever had. Since I'm an international student, everything about US history was new to me. But Dr. Traviolia explained everything so perfectly I didn't even have to study for exams. 2 take home essays, one final in class essay, 2 midterms. He's a tough grader so be specific as much as you can. He's a gem.

He is amazing! While he makes you work for your grade, his lectures are really interesting. I definitely recommend taking his class. He tells you what's going to be on the test, so if a student failed it's because they didn't want to study. Simple as that.

HE WILL TREAT YOU LIKE A HISTORY MAJOR , knowing his class is MANDATORY. Study guides are misleading he gives you a list of things to study but there is no word bank straight fill in the blank. Extremely old school nothing is posted on Moodle or Canvas . You will have to read two books at a time, overall buying 4 books.

Traviolia's 270 class is the best choice for people who do not like studying history. He is even better for people who love studying history. The professor has a wealth of knowledge, a witty and flippant sense of humor, and a sincere love of teaching. I advise anyone who hates history to take his class because there is never a dull moment
