Dr. Petkov is a great Professor. If he has any weakness it is the poor colleagues he has to deal with. If you are interested in understanding the philosophy of space and time from the pre-socratics through to Minkowski you will not find a more capable Professor to instruct you. While his course was not easy, he was always willing to help me.

Not the history of all science--heavy emphasis ONLY on his small area of space/time physics/philosophy. Seems nice, but is on the strange side. Exam questions were unfair, grammatically misconstructed and unclear. Lecture delivery is yawn-inducing. A frustrating experience. I am usually an A student--this mandatory course hurt my GPA.

He is a fantastic professor. He teaches philosophy of science, the ideas and theories that led famous scientists to their discoveries and hypotheses. Too many universities aim to teach formulas and to find solutions to corporate needs rather than encourage innovative thought and the discovery of new theories. Yes he's been mobbed! Shame on C.U!

I feel incredibly lucking and thankful to have met Pr. Petkov. The courses he teaches are lifechanging, and it quickly becomes self-evident that everybody should learn about the two major [scientific] revolutions to have happened in the 20th century. Pr. Petkov is a man dedicated to knowledge and a model for the academic world.

Prof. Petkov helped me loosen my grip and finally let go of old superstitions, religious and scientific alike. To me, he proved the 4D World beyond any level of doubt, and I now know that the Earth's true rotation around the Sun is helical rather than 3D elliptical. Most important thing I learned from him was Kuhn's "paradigm shifts."

Petkov is the only philosophy teacher I've encountered at Concordia who has been deserving of my respect. The accent's a little thick, and you've got to pay close attention to what he's saying, but he has an intimate comprehension of the material (spacetime & relativity) and doesn't mind taking as long as needed to help you understand. Recommended.

Do the work. Pay attention. Actually take the time to understand what he's talking about and you'll find the class extremely interesting and start questioning your own ideas on reality(if thats what your interested in).The physics aspect might seem daunting but is unnecessary to your understanding of the class as long as you already know basic laws

You need to have a strong understanding of physics and science in general to be able to comprehend what this man is talking about. This is supposed to be introductory and theoretical, but he talks about really advanced topics. Doesn't answer questions and basically tries to force his opinion on you; akin to brainwashing. AVOID!

Tough class if you're not interested in physics. It should be titled the history of science and philosophy through the eyes of physics. The presentations are tough, but a great experience.

I took the intro to philosophy of science a couple year's back. He has a bit of an alien personality, and this can be quite threatening to people who need their hand held through difficult material. It definitely helps to have some background in science. His stare reminds me a bit of Christopher Walken, except more intense: "Hot!"

All the talk of him being extremely challenging is justified; however, those actually interested in the material should take him - you'll learn far more than with anyone else, though your overall mark may not reflect it. Extremely well-structured class set-up, and Dr. Petkov is extremely concise: so pay attention, and it will pay off.

Avoid this class at all costs! The teacher has poor time management - we only covered 1/3 of the material, and what was covered was obscure and poorly explained. The professor's rude about students' opinions and seems to want to take advantage of our ignorance regarding science to brain-wash us to his way of thinking. Worst professor ever!

Comment:
I was interested in Epistemology before taking this class, but not this one- the teacher mumbles and has a heavy accent, so he's hard to understand. His interests seem to be more geared to philosophy of science, so he turned this class into a philosophy of science class: great for science majors,****ty for the rest of us.
