Comment:

I had him for both STA135 (intro to statistics) and trig and he's a great professor. He knows what he's talking about, he's extremely confident in what he's talking about, and he always knows when to throw in a little professional humor. The only thing that sucks is that tests are worth 60% which is terrible if you're bad at taking tests like me.

Mr. Alverson is really confident in what he knows and how he teaches. He would introduce the topic, give examples, then give homeworks, which he calls journals, and would collect it after a few days. So make sure you do it. And for every exam, he has previous exams for practice on canvas. And you can message him for help whenever!

He definitely knew what he was talking about, but it was hard to tell that he even cared. You would raise a concern about something and he would just blow it off, and he makes it feel like any question you ask is dumb. And your grade is basically all exams. I had a 100 on every bit of homework and still had a low b in the class. Hated this class

You think you're doing good getting 100% on all the MyMathlabs, and the journals are graded on effort and completeness, and then you get a B on your first exam, dropping you from a 95 to and 85. His journals and mathlabs combined are only 20% of the grade, while 60% is exams and 20% is your final. Just pay attention to the homework and know it.

Really wants you to understand what is going on. You have journal after every class no more that 10-15 problems. gives practice test options! after the test he gives you the problems worked out. I really enjoyed his class.

I have had 11 different math teachers since the sixth grade... and Wyatt Alverson has been the best teacher I have had without a doubt. He has a very intuitive way of explaining the concepts of the course, and I even started to enjoy math while I was in his class. Highly reccomend!

Mr. Alverson was one of the best math teachers I have ever had. He explained things thoroughly and if you needed help all you had to do was ask. My final grade was an A which I have never done. I highly recommend you use the "previous exams" tab under his course on Canvas. It's the same test just reworded question. I highly recommend Mr. Alverson.

Great teacher, willing to help. He teaches very clearly and easily understandable. I suck at math but having him made it easier. Tests were easy, he posts previous tests on Canvas and as long as you do practice problems and the homework, you should do fine.

Professor Alverson is a wonderful instructor. He teaches with great clarity and is able to keep things relatively interesting. There is homework daily in textbook as well as once a week online, but it's typically not too difficult. Pay attention in class and you will likely do fine.

He was the BEST math teacher I have ever had. I've been a C student in Math my whole life, but I had to take Calculus. If it weren't for the very thorough and clear way he teaches I couldn't have done it. If you attend class, do the homework, and MOST IMPORTANTLY: DO THE PRACTICE EXAMS.. you can get an A. The tests are JUST like the practice exams.

Mr. Alverson is by far the best math teacher I have ever had! He explains things in a way that is easy to understand and often asks for questions. He is laid-back and easy to feel comfortable around. His tests are very straightforward. Even if you suck at math, with a little work you can do well in his class.

I have always been horrible at math and when someone like me can earn an A+ in the class, you know you have a good instructor. Alverson is extremely helpful and he explains everything crystal clear. I would recommend him for any math class.
