She is not good at explaining the curriculum and uses outdated software to teach the class. DO NOT sit in the back as the font she uses to explain is lime green, and she claims it cannot be changed-- it can. Her scale is messed up to prevent you from getting an A, even as someone who has programming for 6 years now. This class sucks

My biggest complaint in this class is that you should DEFINITELY not have any classes 15 minutes after hers. So many days I had to sprint across campus just to make it to math on time because she wouldn't let you leave till you've submitted your work. It's a boring class if you know how to code and a nightmare if you don't.

Genuinely the worst professor I have ever taken, at best she is indifferent to any issues that you might be having, at worst she is extremely condescending, and would rather berate you for not knowing answers rather than help you work through to to a solution. Uses dated and unuseful systems to teach, currently working with a depreciated library

I didnt find Dr. Wang NEARLY as bad as these reviews say. She can be slightly hard to understand, but it rarely, if ever, made her communication ineffective. She cares - always advertising office hours and the CSC tutors. Homework is great prep for test, and only a couple of tests were very difficult if you had been at lecture and done homework.

I believe Dr. Wang gets a bad rep. She is hard to understand, and it doesn't help she teaches the intro classes, which nobody knows whats going on. That said, I think she was a pretty easy grader. Just show you are putting out effort and it won't be hard. Programming is difficult at first, it takes time to really wrap your head around it.

If you're taking an introductory class with this professor do yourself a favor and drop . She is hard to understand and goes off on tangents about incredibly useless topics. However, if you have previous experience with coding languages (i.e. you know Python and are taking CSC130) you don't even have to show up.

If you can avoid her at all cost! Most of the class could barely understand her, often she wastes hours of time talking about some relatively simple stuff, but when you have a test it turns out it has nothing to do with things covered in the class. The only way to get a good grade in her class is to attend tutoring classes.

Dr. Wang knows her stuff. For me personally I had an extremely hard time understanding her. Had to go to tutoring to pick up most of the topics covered. If you have no experience in writing code like me before taking this class, I would recommend a different instructor.

Avoid at all costs. I don't understand why MSU still has her teaching. She has some of the lowest reviews at MSU. Can hardly understand her and she lectures for about 45min everyday and she expects us to understand it all. Terrible teacher.

Dr. Wang has a very harsh accent and is hard to understand at times. She does really care about her students, but the way she comes across is just kinda confusing. She will give a lot of quizzes, which are at first easy, but then puts things on there that you haven't seen. Knows how to code well, but just doesn't know how to teach it.

If you can avoid her, avoid her. This is one of the worst classes I have ever taken. We have 13 tests, she sucks at explaining stuff and she shouldn't be teaching this class.

I have head terrible things about this professor but I found her to be fine. She wants you to do well and will help you. In my class she canceled tests to allow people to catch up on practice assignments. Plus when a good portion did bad on a test she let us re-do it and gave us half credit back on the test which definitely saved my grade

If you LOOK CAREFULLY at the assignments you will do fine. Tons of people don't read and blame Wang for taking away points for things that she specifically mentioned in the assignment.

I had Dr. Wang for Algorithms a few semesters ago, and that class was awful. But 460 with her this semester was actually a decent class. The homework was clearer, the grading seemed to be less harsh, and she didn't consistently run over time. She even cracked a few jokes. If you go to class regularly, she seems to go easier on you.

Very difficult to interpret Wang's lesson structure. You will find yourself learning more by google-ing than showing up to class. You don't need to go to lecture to pass this course, and there are no tests. Wang is not recommended for other Core difficulty courses, but taking her for this class is passable with a serious approach.

Wang is clearly focused on math so you miss out on many practical uses for algorithms. She's also awful at teaching and refuses to help. Her grading is arbitrary. Unfortunately, CS majors can't avoid her classes.

Difficult to understand (material and accent); very unhelpful - I had a question about my hw, but she wouldn't even look at it till I got my folders organized a certain way (She had to post two different documents explaining this to the whole class). When she did look at it, she graded it instead of answering my question. I still don't know.

By far the hardest teacher to understand in any department of MSU. She counted me off 15.4 points on an assignment that was out of 10 points. The highest grade I've received on an assignment is a high B. I was a 3.34 GPA student going into this class and it absolutely killed me. WORST TEACHER ON CAMPUS!!!!!
