English 101 was an interesting class to say the least. Having taken 103 now, I can say the one REALLY good aspect about Prof. Flournoy is that she has XYZ criteriaclear cut requirements. On the other hand, she can be snarky at times, rarely showed up, late grader, and had expectations to know things she never taught. I worked harder than I needed.

Ms. Flournoy is the worst teacher at MSJC! The woman is ALWAYS sick and complaining about her "ailments". When she is not complaining about her health then she pushing her very left politics. She has made her opinion known that she dislikes the police, guns and the American people. Avoid her class!

Oh Ms. Flournoy, I really liked her in the beginning of class. She seemed to know a lot and to be very smart. Until she gives you all her unwanted opinions on life. It was just a very frustrating class to attend. Especially when you drive all the way to class to find out she won't be there half the time. She needs to be a online instructor instead.

Professor Flournoy is a very laid back instructor. She gives ample opportunity for revision and extra credit. If you show up to class half the time but do all of the assignments (and revise what she wants revised), and the extra credit you will get an A. I think she's a good hearted person and quite witty. Class was never boring.

She has the intelligence to be a very good teacher. However,like the others said she is sick quiet often which affects how soon she grades. She also makes excuses a lot as to why she hasn't graded on time. She's relaxed though. If you aren't a English Major take her, if you are take someone else. Sometimes class was pointless too.

Everyone failed the first draft of essay 1 in my class. You can revise all assignments for a better grade. Many people complained about the teaching style, but I liked the class. Do not let your first grades discourage you! After failing the first assignment, I got an A in the class.

The only time Flournoy teaches is when she gives you back your rough draft. Of course, she takes forever to grade and return your work. I, honestly, have learned nothing in this class, and this class was basically social hour. This is great for people who don't care about learning--I do.

This teacher uses class time as her social hour. For some reason she thinks people care about her stories or her 5 year old? She grades very hard and also takes forever to grade. Oh and Facebook seems to be her major distraction since she spends more time there than she does grading papers.

She is definitely very unorganized. You show up to class not knowing if it was worth the drive. The assignments she posts on her website explain more than she does in class. Also a very hard grader, even with revisions.

She is a very funny person and is a fun person to talk to. Her teaching is not so great. 90% of classes were her talking about her personal life. Only time she taught is when she graded our essays. Good on using blackboard but that's it. If you need help and structure, don't take her class!

I love her as a person, as a teacher not so much. She takes until literally the last week of the semester to grade everything.Easy grader though and you can revise your essays including the research paper. If you like structure in a class then don't take her. But if you don't care and are laid back then go ahead.

If you want to sit in a classroom for hours JUST to socialize, this is perfect for you. But I learned NOTHING in this class and the teacher was not interested in teaching the students. She'll give you assignments and don't even tell you how to do it cause she's so busy socializing with everybody in the class. DO NOT TAKE.

Funny and sarcastic, though there wasn't much in class learning. However, she was quick to respond to emails and very helpful. Just make sure you keep track of your essay due dates, because they tend to change very quickly. Stay on top of things and do your revisions, and you're guaranteed an A.

First off, she is a really nice (sometimes sarcastic) person. She cancelled class a lot because she was sick and complained about personal issues a lot as well. It got to a point where I dropped because I never wanted to go to class. You do a lot of group work in the book. Not too much teaching or learning. It turned into social hour. I hated it!

This teacher was very unprofessional in her methods. Many classes were spent listening to her preach her political views to the class. She spent more time talking about "real world issues" than teaching the class how to write. I would NOT recommend this teacher.

This teacher really needs to retire. She barely shows up because she's "sick" all the time. I've had teachers who've cancelled class before, but she is ridiculous. All she does is talk about her husband and her kid. Highly recommend taking any other English class except hers. She's also never there to explain any assignment. Highly recommended no.
