I will say there is a lot of reading. But he is an amazing professor. At the end of the semester you have to do a 15 minute presentation. I hate presenting but he mad it very easy. He offered time after class to help. He is very understanding and as a said he is always there if you need help.

He really does want everyone to succeed and there's no reason not to. Weekly article reports due, very long weekly readings + quizzes on them, midterm, final & a 15-minute presentation. Class is an easy A but you have to put in the work. Great discussions and lets you input your opinion, no judgement.

urbiel's one of the best ramapo has to offer. makes dry historic lectures interesting and relatable. he is friendly, funny, and patient, as well as a fair and straightforward grader. very approachable. you do have to do a lot of reading but his quizzes are well-made and paper topics are fun. if you have the chance to take him, absolutely do so.

Professor Urbiel is the best prof I had at Ramapo thus far. His class was so interesting and he created a great environment where almost everyone in the class participated in really interesting group convo. There is some reading to do but its not hard and most of it is common sense. Theres an oral presentation at the end but not intimidating

Professor Urbiel is one of the best I have taken at Ramapo. Wants to have a discussion with his students about topics and engage them as well. A few presentations in this class, but they were very simple and helped me learn more about the topics in the class. Definitely take him!

Super nice guy! Loves to teach this course and makes it as fun as it can be. Weekly articles but they aren't too bad. The end of semester project is worth a lot but isn't hard if you don't wait until last minute. Good course.

Great professor- most class time consists of interesting discussions between students. He does require a lot of reading (100+ a week) in order to prepare for weekly reading tests but they are manageable. Overall, reading, participating paying attention in class really pays off. Prepare in advance for the presentation at the end of the semester

Pros: open note tests/ final; really nice; lectures interesting; assignments were clear; one presentation (25% of grade); interesting class Cons: too much reading; weekly reading quizzes (10% of grade); weekly current event articles I would definitely take him again!

An extremely caring and reflective professor. He is always there for assistance, and looks to students to improve his own teaching. There is a lot of reading involved (also a 15 min presentation, midterm/final both open note) but he is there is help you through all of it. I would definitely recommend him to students who are willing to work to learn

Wow professor Urbiel definitely knows his stuff and will make you work for your grade. Although sometimes uncomfortable he has students break out of their shell with a presentation at the end of the semester. He's really funny and not afraid to share his views with the class or correct someone who spouts nonsense. I would take more classes with him

He such a fantastic professor- good enough that I took him twice (i.e. U.S. History II and Social Context of Education). Pros: Good-natured and Well-humored His projects aren't that hard Easy pop quizzes if you read a little Cons: He assigns a lot of reading 20 min final presentation Weekly current events

Urbiel is a great professor! He's very clear with what he wants. There is a quiz about once a week on the assigned reading- they're pretty easy but I would at least skim the readings. The first book you read is torture but the rest are okay. 15 minute presentation at the end. Easy A as long as you are willing to put in the necessary effort.

I personally took this class as a gen ed and I personally hate everything regarding school but his class was amazing. At first I thought I was going to hate it but it was rather interesting. It is an intensive reading course but the quizzes for it is easy and he explains it in class. If you attend class you really don't have to read and still pass

Great teacher. Expect to read 60-100 pages a week and get a 10 question quiz on it every class. You will also have an article due every week. One 20 minute presentation on topic of choice in education. Class isn't too hard at all just make sure you read!!! I highly recommend this class.

He is such a nice guy. Im not a teaching major but he made me want to switch my major. He loves doing social experiments. I mean we took class tests and debated over the answers. There is a project worth 25% of your grade but it was easy. Show up to class, skim the book and your guaranteed a B-

Funny, interesting, charismatic, are a few words to mildly describe how awesome this guy is. Do the work, come to class, and you should be fine. I'm a Math major and I got an A, so he doesn't favor History majors as I had once heard. The only problem I might have is that the workload was very oddly distributed. Not unreasonable, though.
