He is absolutely amazing! Great classes, great feedback, lots of ideas to compose! It's hard to stay there all class because you can get inspired by just one of the concepts he shares and you just want to run and try it! He's THAT good! I would take him for any other class! (**textbook is barely used but it's a good resource)

Didn't learned too much in his class, he used to spent 2 hours to review 4 students's project instead of listen to great examples and share techniques with us, that class make us all sleepy.

Bob is a great teacher. Extremely well-versed in the language of jazz as well as contemporary styles. Takes a very methodical, clear approach to teaching all of the different techniques. Homeworks are hard, projects are harder, but if you are in it to learn, Bob is your guy.

He is the person that you want to learn from if you are going to learn about composition & arranging. Teach lots of useful composition technique and tricks from polytonality, serialism, pandiatonicism, etc. However, prepare to have TONS OF WORKS just like in Jazz Counterpoint 1 (which will be tough for short summer semester)

One of the best teacher in Berklee, especially if you are into writing / composition. The teaching is very nicely organized and clear. You will learn a lot after finishing the course but prepare to have TONS OF WORK throughout the semester

I've learned so much from Bob! He gives a lot of homework to write 8-12 bars or so, which is good because it gives you hands on experience with each class topic. He always grades the work and gives awesome feedback too. And he's hilarious too, always in a good mood

Pilky's jazz cpt 1 class is infamous for how much work he gives (a five-horn chart a week?!) but man do you get your chops in shape. He knows his stuff, and he's an awesome dude. (hey, is anybody going out for coffee?)

Pilk's the MAN! Beware, however: he gives a lot of work. A LOT of it. But, if you're a jazz comp major in a jazz comp class, it totally pays off. He gives out handouts rather than making you use a textbook. Writes some really "out" music. Pretty funny in class, but he'll be serious if need be. Take Jazz Counterpoint 1 with him if you can!
