Comment:

Frink is a great guy, but he's pretty flaky. Sometimes he just wouldn't show up for class, and we would just have to continue to work on our paintings without instruction. What was nice is that he didn't really care if the students skipped class sometimes too. He gives really good constructive criticism. You basically get an A+ by default.

Comment:

Having no experience with paint before, esp watercolor paint, he made this class fun for me. It was a very relaxed environment where you get to explore the medium itself rather than focus on painting a scene. Class was in the summer & we spent the majority of your time outside, lets you create your own style while guiding you through techniques.

I enjoyed this class more than I expected to. Having no painting experience I was worried but in Brian's class, he throws you into it and kind of lets you teach yourself. I think this is the best way to learn. He gives great feedback and will give critiques if you ask. Lets you work at your own speed for the most part. Very relaxed, joyful guy.

If you don't like abstract art or drawing the same broom and chair for 6 weeks straight your going to do poorly in his classes. More of an artist than a teacher.

Brian is pretty cool as a person, but doesn't seem to care much as a professor. He's rarely there and when he is, he's not very helpful. He would leave to get coffee and not come back. Take someone else if you actually want to learn and better your painting skills. Take him if you work well independently.

He is nice as a person. As a teacher: one of the worse. He is never in class and doesn't teach you anything. To get an A in his class just pretend you are the most awesome artist ever. I was insecure in my skills and I told him and I got a B for it.

His class was pretty easy, he always rambles on while you paint so it is somewhat entertaining. Usually you can arrive to class a 30 minutes late and still beat him there. He sometimes leaves for coffee breaks and forgets to return.

He's definitely an eccentric artist in his own way. Somewhat stuck on his own ideas of what's "good art." He tries to impart his idea of wisdom, but it ends up being either bloody confusing, or does not apply to your way of thinking. He's a pretty nice guy & can be excited & surprised when you do something not abstracted that he likes.
