Steve is a truly great professor. Yes, his lectures are on the long side, but a lot of what he has to say is really well articulated and insightful. He knows modern music like the back of his hand. He's very idiosyncratic, but in a highly amusing way. A fair grader and an all around good guy.

Talks A LOT. Waksman has so much pride in himself. He is knowledgeable, but he is not a good teacher. He just talks NONSTOP. He likes listening to himself talk because he knows he's so knowledgeable in his field of study. Honestly, just take a recorder to his class, and for the essays, write exactly what he said in class. That'll get you an A.

I went into this class with a lot of excitement and high expectations. They were crushed immediately. If you see Waksman around campus, and think he looks cool, do yourself a favor and stay away from his classes. Probably the most boring 2 hours of my life, coupled with ridiculous expectations on papers. Don't expect to get better than a "B"

Steve is one of the best professors I've ever had, and I'm going to miss his class so much when it's over. I highly recommend taking a class with him! He's not easy per se, but you wont be stressed with a lot of work. Very reasonable, awesome class.

This man is the only person alive who could make the history of rock'n'roll boring. He loves to hear himself speak, but unfortunately for us, his voice is generally monotone. The readings are fascinating, but lectures are absolutely horrible.
