Even in the early morning, he does a great job with engaging students and making jokes. I enjoyed his teaching style in that he took up a lot of room on the walls to answer examples step-by-step. His examples were very useful for the homework, which was a good representation of the tests. Love the guy!!

Comment:

Super nice professor and definitely a great teacher. Now in a different calc class, I see how good of a teacher he is. His office hours were always super helpful and he has a lot of patience. Definitely has a lot of homework, but it's worth it in the end.

He is by far one of the nicest teachers I have ever had. He encourages students to visit his office hours often. I would definitely recommend taking this class if you have to take Calculus in college!

Super nice guy with a really great (yet subtle) sense of humor. Math is not my strong suit and I struggle a lot in it but I felt very supported by him. If you want to do well then he gives you the resources to do so. He also really appreciates feedback from his students and is constantly working to improve his class.

Bruce Hanson's Real Class was without a doubt the best class I've taken at St. Olaf. While the class is definitely not easy, he is a wonderful prof who manages to make difficult material accessible. I've never had that much fun in a math class. Bottom line: he's great, TAKE HIS CLASS!

I LOVE HANSON! He is an amazing teacher. The subject was hard for me and he tends to go faster than Zorn but he also covers more material and helps you be more prepared. Go into his office hours! He's often there even if it's not his official office hours. He is incredibly helpful during office hours.

I've had Dr. Hanson for a few classes here now, and he's one of the best. Complex is a difficult course, but the way he presents material is the best way possible to learn and digest the information. Homework is hard, but he's great in office hours. He's also great at telling you what will be on the test. Study hard and you'll be rewarded.

He is obviously very smart and knows his stuff, but communication is not his strong suit. The topics always seemed clear in class and the homework was always exponentially (haha) more complicated than any example he gave us. And holy awkward! He means well and tries to be human, but I don't know. Also get read to memorize definiations up the wazoo!

If you are taking ERA, don't take it from anyone but Bruce! He is the ERA king. You can re-do assignments which really helps you learn the material. His tests are extremely fair and there's no surprises. He is great in class and even better in office hours. One of the best math profs at Olaf.

Comment:

Bruce Hanson is the muthaf----- man! Makes everything very easy to understand on both an elementary and complex level and doesn't hesitate to be funny in class or on his tests. Exceedingly willing to help if you are having trouble understanding concepts. Also he often accidentally gets chalk all over his face which can help if class gets dull.
