Before taking his class I read the reviews and I have to say that I was pretty nervous. I don't know if the people writing reviews were lazy because he always makes sure you get the material. There is a lot of reading and yes it's hard but not jmpossible. A LOT of extra credit is offered. He is very helpful. Attend class and put in effort.

Dr. Ettner's lectures are a little boring. You'll only get out what you put in. Ask questions. He's more than happy to answer them. The optional events outside of class are pretty fun. Ettner is very helpful if you go see him in his office hours. He will grade your assignments easier if he knows who you are and you routinely show up to class.

One of the rudest, most contrary professors. What good is it to know so much, then behave condescending to those that are there to learn. He assigns things but isn't clear about how to turn stuff in, and don't bother asking because he will go off like your stupid. I enjoyed anthro classes until him, he kinda killed it for me.

There are tons of opportunities for extra credit, & if he assigns things (even if he says you won't be graded) DO THEM, he'll randomly give you extra credit. There is so much reading, don't take this class with other classes that assign a lot of reading or writing. He can be rude. When you answer during lecture he'll make it seem that you're wrong.

Would not recommend. A hour and fifteen minutes class seemed like an eternity of torture. He thinks that he is funny (he is not). He is unclear of when explaining the outline for the assignments and when it's due. Also, he downplays a student's response if it does not exactly match the answer he is looking for during the lecture.

Ettner knows his material, but he comes off as extremely rude to his students. He'll ask for your input, but if your answer or response isn't up to his standards, expect a tongue lashing. Most people in my class just stopped participating because all he would do is berate everybody when they spoke up. Other then that, everything else was gravy

I thought i was going to love this class. But he makes it miserable. Off topic a lot with lectures. Seems to really enjoy making students feel stupid and publicly embarrasses them. Tests are worded to confuse people. If you stay quiet, study and read everything , and be very prepared for tests ,You can get a decent grade

Professor Ettner is passionate and is set on his views and beliefs. He gives you about 4 books to read and the tests are based off the readings . Kinda tough to sit through lecture because it isn't really interactive. Not an easy class but there are many opportunities for extra credit.

Great topic but boring teacher: gives lectures, isn't interested in you and likes to embarass students publicly. Class is very very tense. Even if you are a very good student I would recommend not participating because you are quite likely to upset him. He doesn't seem to have much respect for his students and they all seem too scared to comment.

This class was EXTREMELY BORING. The notes are read word for word from PDF projected on the screen. Trying to copy the notes down as quickly as he talks, then he informs you "I'll post them online", which he only did about half the time. Also, tests appear to be very easy, but I got a bad grade & he didn't pass them back to see what we got wrong

He goes off topic a lot. There is a lot of reading,he does have discussions on reading. His wording on tests are questionable and confusing and likes to trick you, even if you know the material he makes you feel like you don't. I started out really liking the subject before taking the class but his self-righteous attitude killed any passion I had.

He is really helpful. I had so much trouble with my essay and he guided me through how to get it right. He is only teacher I had at state who was willing to give me time in editing my personal statement for professional schools. If you are good student you will be fine!

Not a difficult class, do the papers and read the book. If you need to talk to him, do so in person - he's impossible through e-mail. I don't know why, but it's like he never had any idea what I was talking about.

Study all your notes, not just the SG he gives. It's not a lot of material, but is specific. Always available if you need help with paper. Many extra credit opportunities, so no excuse to not get a good grade if you at least try. Quick to say "you're wrong" if your info is incorrect during lecture, so be sure you want to disagree out loud

He is a good teacher. Just pay attention and you dont even need to take notes. If he knows that you are a good student, he will give you the higher grade if you are on the border. I would recommend him, but if your are Christian, just be ready to take some heat from him becasue he doesnt like talking about it.

Basically he is annoyed by Christianity and Catholics. So be prepared. Had two main essay about a religion group you have to research. If you have bad grammar, good luck. He will give you a "D" even if you wrote a good essay. The second essay was just a revision of the first. Hard grader but Quiz from the book every class period.

Do not take this class, he goes off topic A LOT and he will never get back on track. He does not update you on anything and will not remind you about homework or tests. He does not go over what you have to read for the class and he'll only talk about what he thinks is right. Very closed minded teacher. I do not recommend this class!

He hates Christianity so be ready to be discriminated against. He said "If you've been in the country for 30 days you've seen enough Christianity" and "christianity is boring". He's an elitist control freak so do as he says or he will flip out.
