Mac is funny, brilliant, and kind. If you dont succeed at first, he will reach out and help. I enjoyed playing chess with him during office hours.

Assignments are light, as its only like 3 3 page essays (prompt of your choice) essays and an online midterm (plus readings). Each week you discuss the next act of the assigned play. He emphasizes discussion style lecture over assignments. Deadlines are flexible. He keeps it interesting. He genuinely cares about his students and the subject.

No required texts, as he provides links to everything online for free. He covers The Faerie Queen, Paradise Lost, and a variety of poems. He gives great explanations of the text in class, so youll understand most stuff even if you didnt read. Doesnt push deadlines. Theres 4 papers and two online exams. One extra credit opportunity (extra paper)

First semester of the class being available, so there were minor kinks. We designed our own game to pitch, as well as reviewed three games of our choice. Two presentations (1 game pitch, 1 game review). I learned a lot about video games from him, especially as he posed questions I hadnt considered. 10/10 would recommend.

Professor MacQuarrie is an amazing professor. The material give to use is rather strenuous and at times impossible to follow. He makes it as clear as water. He explains the meaning of the text, and even keeps it interesting so as to not put you to sleep. He also is flexible in case you accidently submit an assignment wrong or late, that's rare.

Great teacher. He makes lit come alive and his lectures R fantastic. This is the third time I've taken a class from him and every time I look forward to his class. He is funny and likes to play like he is forgetful, but he is a very smart man. Usually has us do one 300-500 word essay/week and a small quiz on what we read that week. No books to buy.

Prof. Mac. is wonderful! His intro. to lit. class requires minimum effort but is still extremely engaging and informative. Mac. is knowledgeable and makes lectures fun. He picks new short sections of poems/novels to focus on each week to keep the class entertained, and he reads in funny voices so that was cool too. I highly recommend him.

Such a fun class! He is so eccentric, intellectual, funny, easy-going & passionate about the subject. He would do the readings in British, Scottish, & Irish accents. Knows so much about the subject. Easy class. Very understanding about missing assignments/makeups. A bit disorganized though. I wish I could have him for all my classes!

MacQuarrie is a great professor for in-class lectures but for an online class, he was extremely unclear, with complicated or vague instructions and not enough information included in the lecture notes. I really like this professor but I would not take an online class with him again.

Really space-y but very enthusiastic about the subject. A funny professor with enjoyable lectures! He is somewhat unclear about his grading system and due dates but as long as you come to class, it's easy to keep track of what's going on.

MacQuarrie naturally is not an organized person. If this bothers you don't take him. However, he really cares about the students and that you do well in his class. If you need help he is there and completely approachable, not to mention easy on the eye and hilarious.

I took the class online and Dr. MacQuarrie provided online resources for the reading, so no textbook was required. There is A LOT of reading. This is not an easy A - he is tough but fair. He is very intelligent and really knows the material. He also has a great sense of humor and cares a lot about the students. Loved the class and loved him.
