Dr. Tam is very knowledgeable within the field of nutritional science, specifically alternative nutrition. There is no mandatory textbook but there is a course pack that costs less than $20. Tests are open note and there is one midterm test and two projects.

Dr. Tam is super laid back and doesn't teach much during lecture. He rambles around about his eating experience and go tangent. That is why when you take his exams, you have no idea what the exams is about even though it's open book and open notes. However he does give easy points here and there. Showing up in class is a must (80 points total).

Very hard to understand his accent! The class wasn't too hard because he let's you use the textbook/notes during midterm and final. You don't really need to take notes because his course packet has everything. You also do an easy project on your diet. Don't slack off & prepare your notes well before exams, and his accent won't let you fail.

Dr. Tam is very knowledgeable about his subject. He is funny and will not make your life miserable. You wont learn much but the book is self explanatory. Open book tests and some projects that are not very challenging same for 465. The 3 phrases that will stick to your head are: "I'm just joking ", "its only Cal Stale LA" and "no ATP you DIE"

Dr. Tam has to be one of the worst professors I have ever encountered in four years at CSULA. He goes on tangents during lectures, he is not helpful when asked questions, and he gives incredibly vague instructions for projects and papers. He will just brush you off when you ask him about something he marked off and make it seem like it's your fault

Dr. Tam, while knowledgeable, should no longer be teaching. He treats this class as if it's his social activity for the day... most of class time being spent having his assistant read recipes from the projector screen. Also, if you're a naturally curious person... he will try to kill your spirit by humiliating you for asking a question. Not a fan

AWFUL! I'm not sure if Dr. Tam was ever a good teacher, but he needs to retire already because he DOESN'T TEACH ANYTHING! This class was such a waste of time, it was really unfortunate. Attendance is mandatory (otherwise there is NO reason to show up), midterm and final open book. Two easy projects w/ presentations. Entire 10 wks is a joke :(

Dr. Tam is really sweet and helpful. However, he does talk a lot about irrelevant things during lecture. He definitely has a sense of humor!

Dr. Tam is so underrated. If you take the time to review the material in his course packets you will learn a lot. He has a wealth of knowledge... you just have to ask questions to reveal it. Hilarious, esteemed, and a real genuine man whose mission is to spread health via green pharmacy and a basic balanced diet.

I was so excited for this class, but learned very little if anything. The class consists of Dr. Tam speaking in one looonnggg run-on sentence mostly about unrelated topics, then acting annoyed when you have a question. Is he knowledgeable? He must be. Sadly, we were too busy doing music therapy and other unrelated projects to find out!

dr.tam is a very smart,under-rated and misunderstood prof. and he is very kind and fair as his style of teaching is very open, non linear with his stories of life much like a meditation and you will have to bring your own passion for nutrition to the experience as he challenges your thinking--indie attitude and approach is key here

Great person but horrible professor. Requires 2-3 different textbooks which he hardly uses; however you need one of those for the exam. If you're really interested on learning about alternative nutrition, he's not the teacher for you...you'll learn absolutely NOTHING with him. But if all you want is an A, his your professor.

I have finally come to understand Dr.Tam's style of teaching. It is very similar to how Mr.Miyagi taught Daniel-san. "Wax on, wax off", painting the fence, etc. At first, Danny was clueless. He thought it didn't make any sense. But then he realized what he was learning all along. It is the same thing with Dr.Tam. He is great!!!

Dr. Tam is a nice man. He just doesn't know how to teach effectively. He rambles and rambles about things that aren't even in your book, and is very hard to follow. He tests you off of handwritten handouts that are barely even legible. He's easy though. Just don't expect to really learn anything.

OK...Seriously...Students taking night classes are tired from full day work and they usually want to get to the point. This professor...Oh My God...1 hour intro of himself about his personal life including himself and his daughters. He thinks he's funny but actually not. The textbook is like 170 dollars and he's requiring it.

this class is a piece of cake. exams were easy. i like Mr. Tam, he got a sense of humor (...his stories are funny..sometime) but you wont learn much in this class, cuz most of the study you'll do is coping...out of the book or notepad
