She is a very nice person but not a good teacher. She has a thick accent and makes mistakes regularly which can really confuse you. The material is very hard and exams are tough. She also makes a lot of grading mistakes so make sure you double check each exam and problem set.

Worst class i've taken at BU. She couldn't teach the material clearly. On top of that, her accent was unbearable. Don't take it.

Olivetti is the kindest professor I've had so far. Unlike much of the econ department, she is very approachable and friendly. She cares about the material she's teaching as well as about her students. The tests are fair and, as long as you've studied and internalized the main concepts, you will do very well in her class.

Olivetti is the best econ professor i have ever seen!!! she is really nice! She speaks articulate and easy to understand. and also her ppt is pretty good, if you miss her class, you can just go through the ppt and you can totally understand it!!! additionally, she is really patient with her students!!and she is UPenn PhD. in economics! She is cute!

I had the misfortune of having prof Oivetti/Gilchrist combination this semester.I am sure she is very talented and etc.. but the class itself was absolutely dreadful. I felt both professors did not care at all about the class. Aplia was not helpful. Lectures were boring, and just read off of power point slides. Killed any interest in econ.

Could not understand what she was saying most of the time accent too thick, the exams are way harder than the problem sets for homework, have to go over the textbook carefully again by yourself if you want to learn something from this class

Almost impossible to understand behind her thick Italian accent. Can only grasp 50% of what she is saying, I did not learn a thing from going to lecture. She speaks too loud and will give you a headache. She knows what she's talking about but her delivery is not good. She doesn't stimulate interest and is confusing with her lengthy explanations.

Hard to understand her when she teaches. Textbook is complicated and takes a lot of time to read. Three problem sets that are not too hard, and the exams are slightly easier than the problem sets. Multiple choice and short answer format. I got an A in Watson 102 and a B+ in this class. Takes random attendance.

Honestly, I disliked her very much. She's a Upenn PhD which is very impressive, but i dont see she as a grate teacher. I didnt like her thick accent cos I had understanding issues. Even worse, she couldn't answer our questions and had to say that she'd have to look it up. She wasn't really supportive or caring and sometimes gets impatient.

She may be a nice person, but definitely not a good professor. She is not clear and hlepful both in class and in her office hour. TA's grading was random. I didn't feel like having learned anything from this class. Although I went to every lecture,I felt it was a waste of time. Her slides posted every week were more actually helpful than herself.

Olivetti is one of the better econ profs here at BU. She's clear, straightforward, friendly, relatively organized, and certainly knowledgeable. I just wish she'd keep the nervous laughter to a minimum, it really started to grate after a week or two.

Very good professor. Class was straightforward, to the point of being a bit slowpaced. Problem sets (given once every two weeks or so) were very similar to the exams, and were pretty easy. Very nice at office hours, textbook is handy, but just using her notes works too.

She's the best prof I've ever had. The class material is challenging and interesting. The textbook is ok, but if you copy notes in her class you'll realize that they're even better. She's so intelligent and clear when she teaches, and to top it off she's sweet and caring. I'd take another class with her if only I could. Highly recommended!

Professor Olivetti is the NICEST woman ever!! She is soo sweet and caring!! The class itself is pretty challenging. The material is complicated and the problem sets teke a while. However, the tests are very similar to the problem sets. I really like the class and it made me like macroeconomics more. TAKE IT!

Lectures were interesting and clear. Taking good notes is a must because the text is boring. Tests were easy if you studied the problem sets she assigned during the previous week. Problem sets are very difficult but she posts the solutions online before the exams.

She's the kind of woman that would never hurt a fly. Her accent is pretty thick but I've still been able to understand most of what she's said. She can sometimes get confused with the more advanced topics, but she's always willing to help. She also gives helpful practice tests before the tests.
