The quizzes are short answers from the textbook. He makes you give six speeches. Each one has a different purpose, so customize your speech accordingly. He expects you to turn in printed outlines before you give your speech. As the course goes on, he wants you to research and cite 3 expert sources. He is humorous but very old school.

Overall speech is a pretty boring subject, but at least with him he tries to make it interesting. He grades super easy, so if you just show up you will pass.

I took it in May minimester. There were about 6-7 speeches. These are usually spread out during a normal semester. I was terrified of taking this class, but on the first day, he was pretty good about calming the nerves. Make sure to have your outlines for your speeches-eye contact/meets time limit etc., bookwork, participate, and you'll do fine.

TAKE IN A MINIMESTER!!! This class was a breeze. I recommend going to one of the shows and writing the short paper for the 5 points extra credit to get that A so you don't have to take the final. He has almost no lectures. There were probably like 4 or 5 but you better come to class or it's points off. Follow the syllabus and you'll do great.

The Class is all lectures and you will be required to attend all but two classes or the grade will suffer. students have 2 papers over plays, easy A's and he will help you with it if you ask. There is a project requiring you to describe different theaters. The only major drawback is the required Stage work requiring at least 10 out of class hours.

Very fair--all take home essay test--there are easy--lots of speeches about 11 all together, he is flexible and doesn't expect perfect speeches, he dosen't like late people--but who does, he is very funny and full of life, he is a neat professor!

I took Dana for every class offered when I was at BC...my only advice is to pay attention and do your work...you may think he is a flake at first but once you hit the university setting you will be thanking him. And once you get into the professional world you will wish he were there with you!!

Dana is not very good as a speech teacher. You often have to finish his sentences for him, which I think is very bad for a speech teacher. He does get frustrated quickly, but only with people that don't pay attention. He is a very nice person though.
