One of the hardest labs I have ever completed. I was lucky enough to pass. Students who are slow learners or take time in learning will find this course difficult.

It depends a lot more on your TA, but the interactions I did have with her were great. She explains concepts and techniques thoroughly and isn't eye-rolling whenever I had a question. Exam was very fair and the experiments were fun. For the quizzes though: the most inconvenient time is when their coming.

Dana is just awesome! if u mess up, she will be understanding and will not get mad. She often walks around and gives helpful tips, I would encourage everybody to ask her questions. Her pre-experiment lectures are LONG but they make things a lot clearer. The course overall is harder than first year labs but it's also more interesting and fun!

I honestly found chem235 much harder than first year labs. I struggled so badly with almost every single lab due to my horrible lab anxiety which causes me to forget instructions and mess up horribly. Dana is ok but my TA was just... He couldn't understand why I was always so nervous. It's hard for a slow learner like me to work fast.

So much better than Chem 121/123 labs. This course builds proper technique and is so much fun and easier to understand! Got a 76 and class average was 72. Not much homework other than having to read the lab manual every week, and the procedures are easy to understand. Final exam and in lab exam are easy as well.

Chem labs have always been extremely intimidating for me. I find this course to be much better than 1st year chem labs in that the criteria, procedures and what we are expected to know and put into practice are all very laid out for us. My tips would be to prepare extremely well before attending labs and to really understand what you are doing.

She's extremely clear in the pre-experiment pep talks, just so that everybody has a rough idea of what they're doing (even though you're supposed to study the lab manual before going to the lab). She likes to emphasize on safety and makes you scared and extremely careful. The lab was fun, in my opinion and the lab exam was fair.

The lab and the TAs were fair and rather enjoyable, but Dana was a pain to deal with. She sometimes contradicts her own lab rules simply because she can get away with it as the director. She could not keep her own exam-viewing appointments for no good reason and was not flexible when rescheduling the appointment. Rushes you through exam-viewing.

Like a fairy godmother, she walks around the lab making sure we aren't making any serious mistakes. If she sees that we might need some help (eg. confusion or spillage of chemicals or glass breakage) she immediately comes over to help/clean up the mess. And she doesn't ever get mad or annoyed! Your grades do depend on your TA though.

Honestly, in these CHEM labs it doesn't matter whether or not Dana is nice; what matters is if your TA is nice. Nonetheless, Dana was nice & helpful to me even when I messed up a couple times. She does have rules in the lab and she sticks to them but overall she's ok.

Runs the lab like a dictator. No room for negotiation, no room for compromise. She is very important person! Can't stress that enough so don't waste her time with your dumb, unexperienced questions. Its a pre-req for a lot of programs and she's the only director so goodluck

whoever was using my workstation burned our tubes XP. never forgive that person, cause the tubes exploded when i was doing the distillation experiment, and dana looked at me weird. but she's ok at explaining, strict though that's to be expected, its a lab after all

She's the lab director for 235, generally quite nice, wants students to understand things. One issue is her surprise quizzes and her ambiguousness surrounding homework assignments and exams. Try asking TAs instead, or profs of the 233 course, they'll help you.

Very helpful lab instructor! The only thing that makes taking Chem 233 worthwhile. However, follow the instructions TO A T, or you'll run the risk of blowing something up (like me).
