Prof. Falk is very enthusiastic about his subject. He always tells dad jokes, even on the tests, and makes sure everyone is following before moving on to the next subject. His lectures are priceless, for the tests and simply for the enjoyment of the subject. Plenty of extra credit. He cares a lot for his students and doesn't want anyone to fail!

Prof Falk is one of my favorite professors! He asks if anyone needs clarification at least 4 times a day. It's ALL lecture. Don't bother with the book, but if you miss a day it'll hurt. If you take good notes and study the study guides to understand concepts not just the answers, you'll do well. But good notes are essential. Show up, work and laugh

Very educated about subject so you learn a lot. Makes you EARN grade, but I figured out how to get A. Show up, take good notes, don't bother with book. Do ALL the extra credit. The MC exams are MEANT to trip you up with wrong answer in the choices. So study. Before you can see the choices after the question, cover them up. Think of it, then answer.

I really enjoyed this class, Prof Falk really loves Astronomy & it shows. You will NEED to be at the lectures and TAKE NOTES. All tests were based mostly on lectures. I actually didn't like the book very much, it was confusing so didn't read it much, just took class notes & researched online when needed and I did fine. Class lectures move fast!

The Professor himself was awesome. Says hilarious cheesy jokes and is very respected. He mainly gives out heavy lectures and uses the whiteboard to demonstrate the teachings. There are a few exceptions such as everything is based off Test and quizzes. The Final determines what your grade is in the class. I would not recommend. Hard Intro. Class

NOT A EASY A! You need to work hard for the A in his class. The class grade is 95% exams (4 exams including final). The other work won't help your grade very much. Study really hard and take good notes. He doesn't use PowerPoint and talks really fast (which I disliked). Unless you are passionate about Astronomy, I wouldn't recommend taking him.

If you're only taking this class to satisfy a general education requirement, and are expecting an easy A, this isn't the class for you. You have to study hard in this class for an A. But if you really are interested in astronomy or you're majoring in it, I would recommend this professor. Very knowledgeable and enthusiastic.

I can't believe how much time this guy wastes not teaching us anything. Throughout the class there are periods of him asking us questions about astronomy followed by 30 seconds of silence. Isn't that what you are supposed to be teaching us? Obviously we don't know the answers. That's why we're here. Also it's 2018, Use power point!

He breaks it down to simple concepts and make an absolute fun class out of a hard subject. I wouldn't recommend you to take this course if you are not interested in the subject. There is almost no homework but some readings, there are plenty of extra credit research and study guides, the most fun class of all my college journey.

Astronomy is by far the hardest class I have taken in college (3rd year student) but I also loved the challenge. I never studied as hard as I did for any other class. You WILL learn A LOT in this class. Do not miss class and take good notes. Class consist of all test/quizzes and no other assignments. Falk is a funny guy and an AMAZING instructor!

I appreciate his passion for Astronomy and his lectures are very entertaining! The only complaint I would have is he doesn't believe in review before or after tests. He is available during office hours tho. If you show a desire to learn he will have your back in the end.. I hoped to get more out of his class but all and all I'm satisfied.

He's amazing at lecturing in a way that will make you understand the material. course was really interesting and he knows what he's talking about. He's very serious about his material and tests aren't the easiest. Lots of info to know, his study guides barely ever relate to the test. Not really an easy A.

Grade is based on tests only (rarely any assignments) he offers up to 15points extra credit. Definitely go to class and don't miss a lecture. I think you can get an A without the book. He gives study guides for all exams but you actually have to understand the concepts and it's parts. If you study the guide alone and just that, you'll get a B.

Astr1 should only taken it if you are interested in the subject. If you do take it I Highly recommend prof Falk. He is great, very knowledgeable, explains things in a clear fashion, always keeps the class entertaining and is always available to answer questions. He really focuses on having you understand the material vs just memorizing stuff.
