Uses full 3 hours for lectures; if youre not a history major youll find him boring, if you love/study history you will enjoy him. Lectures are incredibly informative but a lot of info to take in. Textbook is kind of expensive but he actually uses it and it helps a lot for any info you missed. Given a presentation/book review, and midterms/final

The whole class is just lectures, every single day. If you listen and take notes, PLEASE TAKE NOTES for your own sake, you should be fine. Can be boring at times, but as long as you take notes you should pass pretty easy. There is one presentation and then one paper at the end.

Had him for a 3 hr night class, he goes pretty fast through the material but gives you a study guide and his tests are super easy. He's a super nice guy but boring. You have 3 tests, a short presentation and a book report at the end. Easy to get a good grade in!

This class was really easy, but so hard to stay awake through. Three hours of him a night was brutal and we rarely got a break. The tests were simple and straight forward and had one paper due at the end, definitely an easy A.

Very Interesting and an easy A if you take good notes and show up to class. Didn't use book once, but he still expects you to buy it. Tells you exactly what is going to be on test and gives you the chance to ask questions about topics you missed. Overall, very easy with minimal effort.

Nice and intelligent, but extremely boring. Talks with a lot of "uhms" and "uhs" and "ohs." Takes twice as long to get a word out. Very easy but his 3 hour class was painful to sit through.

Ok. Tom Bell, during my time there as a photography student you had to deal with him at one time or another. He treats his students like they are dumb. He doesn't like anyone touching anything during class even though it is an upper level all photo students. His grades are easy/fair but overall irritating and acts like you are careless & dumb grrr

This was the easiest A that I've had at PPU. I never read anything at all for this class and I got the highest grades. He's nice but a bit boring at times. He will never let you out of class early. Tests are super easy and reports are super easy. Basically you have to be an idiot to not pass this class.

Don't take this class if you hate criticism or tips from a photographer 30 yrs in the business. If you want an easy A and no knowledge learned, I recommend not taking this class. Oh, and by the way, I've taken him for three classes, so I would know what kind of a teacher that he is.

This guy is 1) very boring, 2) not organized at all in his teachings, and 3) just a really weird guy. I didn't learn a thing in this class. There was no structure. Pretty much all he did was talk about how the world is going to end and we're all going to die painful deaths...fun stuff.

I never had a class with him, but i'm a better photographer than he is. his classes are so slow paced, its a wonder anyone learns the bare basics. if you want a photo class, go to filmmakers.
