I have heard great things about Sowell but we did not go well together. His teaching style did not match my learning style. I found him incredibly rude and unhelpful when I went to see him outside of class. The material is fairly difficult and he grades extremely hard but it was more than that, he just didn't make learning fun.

He told you the truth whether you liked it or not. I didn't get the best grades in his class, but I worked my tail off for him. And I learned so much! Far and away my favorite prof because he was hard, yet approachable. I am now a history teacher and there is a lot of him in my teaching.
