i adore edwin with my whole heart. did i learn anything from his class? not really. did i read the textbook? not ever. but he is such a goofy little guy who says the strangest things like "way fine" and "kinky" all the time. his class is a bit of a blow off class and he gave almost everyone in my class an A no matter what you do. would recomend

I took his Honors Classical Mythology. The class definitely required reading the chapter. Because it was an honors class, the lecture was more discussion based. Sometimes the way he words things can make things difficult. He is an easy grader. As long as you write like you know what you're talking about, you'll get an A.

Not the most interesting class. Really lecture heavy. Can skip a few classes, but then you would have to skim the book over what you missed. The pop quizzes are called "inclass assignments" and are easy of you pay attention to what he says in class before the quiz. The actual tests aren't too hard, just basic memorization of names and what they did

Class is basically impossible unless you already know everything about classical mythology. His "notes" include slide shows solely with pictures and the quizzes are hardly every representative of the reviews.

Edwin is a great teacher and provides everything you need for an easy A. He provides extra credit if you give more information on his tests. You do have go to class and take notes. Don't really have to read the book, but you do have to read a couple plays. He provides study guides with that has exactly what is on the test. The tests are easy.

I took this class because I had to. Personally, I don't think mythology is the most interesting thing to learn about, but Edwin made it ok. He's funny and is very passionate about this subject. He gives a lot of pop quizzes but they're just over what was said in lecture that day, if you pay attention this class is an easy A!

I took a test and worked my ass off to get a good grade on it. He counted me a point off for saying temple instead of alter. That seems pretty fair. Don't take him if you don't need him. For a Gen ED, this class is insanely arrogant and irrational. Get out while you can.

Lecture heavy definitely. Long and boring. He says a lot and very fast and confusing. Very complicated class. His reviews are barely anything like the quizzes. Grades tough, and he doesn't really care to help. Asked him about my grade he told me I should just drop, but it was too late to drop. So there goes my grade. Don't take it if you dont need.

he made lectures very confusing, they had no structure to them. He speaks pretty quickly and it is very difficult to keep up with what he is saying. He knows a lot about the subject and someone who wants to major in Mythology would definitely benefit from taking his class. However, I thought this course was a little difficult for a gen. ed.

Professor Carawan really knows what he is talking about. I never used my book, I just showed up to lectures and learned it all from him, which is all you really need to do. Attendance is not mandatory, but you will be super confused if you miss even one day. He also gives 8 or so quizzes. It was an overall easy class!

Never used my book. Pop quizzes, but he covers the info before. He lectures in stories and it's hard to keep up handwriting your notes (failed the 1st test doing that), so bring your laptop, type the important points, and then study the vocab. Lectures are hard to follow and unorganized, but he tries to make you interested. Easy A if you work.

He is an easy A because he gives you quizzes almost exactly like the exam while anything not mentioned in the quiz that is on the exam is mentioned in his online syllabus. Lectures are long and boring

Okay, so first of all, don't take this class unless you absolutely need it for your major. He is extremely lecture heavy, and he is extremely confusing when giving notes. His "quizzes" are actually tests, and when I went to talk to him about my grade, he did not care and told me I should drop the class, which is exactly what I did. Not worth it.

I absolutely love mythology and was so excited to take his class and he did not disappoint. He is extremely knowledgable and you can tell he really loves what he teaches. Yes at times the lectures may feel long to some but it's interesting. Not hard to do well in here as long as you work hard.

If you know a little bit about mythology, can memorize a couple names, and go to class it's an easy A. I've never read and I have a 98%. Gives "pop quizzes" but he'll basically talk about everything on them before he gives it and wipes your 3 worse quizzes. Corky guy, lectures are long, take basic notes, it's an easy A.

I've had Dr. Carawan for two classes (LLT 325) and I've never read once and got A's in both classes. As long as you pay attention to his lectures and take basic notes, you'll be fine. If you don't know something just Google it, don't feel like you have to read a dull book. His upper level classes are easier though.

Don't get me wrong, class was easy, but you do need to study for tests and quizzes. If you go to lectures you can get by without doing the reading.
