Ostler gives amazing lectures! He writes down key points as he lectures which makes note-taking easier. Only one assignment due every week, along with one midterm essay (the hardest assignment), one book reflection essay, and the final (essay like the midterm but graded easier). Great class and professor!

He tells history like it's a story, and that makes it easier to remember things. He's really funny. I don't think he really learned anyone's name and didn't seem too interested in getting to know the class, but he was still a great professor that I would definitely recommend.

Chad was the funniest professor I have ever taken. His lectures are extremely heavy and there is a lot of information. You must take detailed notes and make sure you understand the info. Tests are online but they are timed and there is homework every week. I would take him again but would definitely take better notes and study the textbook.

Professor Ostler is an amazing teacher and I would highly recommend taking a class from him. He is intelligent, engaging and cares about his students. His lectures are engaging and interesting. I do not think I have learned so much in a class before; I am a junior and taking it in the summer. I loved this class so much!!!

Honestly one of the best educational experiences I've ever had happened during the first day of class. I was listening to his explination to the rise of slavery, the factors t hat went in to it, as was pretty much enthralled the entire time. He's got a way of teaching in a very informative, engaging way.

Chad was my favorite professor at UVU. He has a way of lecturing that makes you remember everything that he says. The papers were graded pretty much on participation. As long as you did your best you got an A. The mid term was graded a little more harsh. Just go to class and take good notes. The test answers are taken straight from class so listen.

So much work!! If you're looking for an A you're gonna have to REALLY work for it. Many papers but they are graded easy. The take home midterm was graded hard. He has a good final study guide so the final wasn't took bad. All he does is lecture, no pwp, no posted notes, so if you don't go, you're screwed. Online tests are HARD. Don't recommend..

Chad is a great history teacher. Lectures very well and knows his stuff. The midterm and final are very hard but other than that its an easy class if you show up and take notes. Straight lecture class so sometimes it gets old but I would recommend him to others.

Not a typical history professor. He is very passionate and fun. Not only does he make you interested, but he teaches you at the same time. In the past I have struggled with history classes. Not with professor Ostler. There isn't any other teacher I would recommend over him.

He honestly was my favorite teacher this semester. His lectures are so interesting and I was engaged the entire class. I would definitely recommend him as a teacher. I loved this class. He does require some writing but they are 1-2 pages and he isn't a harsh grader so it's very easy to do well as long as you pay attention and do the work.

Chad is good at telling stories and explaining history but his class is heavy on writing and reading. Midterm and final are essays with many other essays due in between and multiple choice tests. Overall, it's not a hard class but it's not easy either. You have to be ready to put in the work to get a good grade. Take really good notes and read.

This class only had a few assignments-- all papers. There are two textbooks required for this class and your cannot do the assignments without them. Professor Ostler is a nice guy and sometimes cracks jokes in class but his lectures can be a little dry sometimes. Overall, pretty easy class and if I had to take it again I would take it from him.

Great class, Great Teacher! Makes history exciting and fun; he adds in odd facts as well as stories that really enhance the topics he talks on. Everything that needs to be in notes is written on the board as he lectures, so notes are a simple task. Tests are easy if studied for. Midterm and Final are hard but if studied for are made much simpler.

Chad make you excited to go to class. He makes it fun. There is a lot of information, what can you expect, but he helps you know what could be on the test. Note you will have to read a 300 page book for one assignment but the paper is broad and you can write it however you want. Other homework is pass/fail.

Chad is an amazing professor, very funny and very helpful. The class is overall EASY, requires two texts book but they come in very helpful. He is not too harsh when it comes to grading. I went through the entire semester with a minimum of a B, he requires a few papers but are only 1-2 pages long. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this class for History-1700-003

Chad is awesome! He knows his stuff and teaches well. Super funny. Three multiple choice tests- gives you study guide. You have to write some papers but they're really not too difficult or time-consuming. This is a lecture class, so you just take notes the whole time, but he makes it fun and interesting. Overall, an easy class.
