I took his professor my very first semester as a freshman and was back and forth about her at first. She seemed nice but then would seem rude. Overall shes just one of those professors you have to adjust to. She wont give an A in your paper and it may stress you out but she leaves really helpful feedback and will give you an A at the end.

Comment:

An absolutely amazing teacher. As long as you're interested and willing to put in work you'll do well. She really wants you to succeed, all you have to do is actually listen to her feedback and try hard and she will give you a good grade. I loved every minute of her class and enjoyed writing the essays she assigned. Would recommend this class.

She told our class "if you get a 90, you wrote a perfect paper." At least half of the class time is presentations and the other half is mandatory peer revision (if you don't show up, you lose 20 points, which usually brings your grade down to at least a 65 if you wrote the paper well). Isn't always respectful to students. Don't take this class!

Erin is a great professor the work for the class is pretty easy if you know what your doing. No exams but you do have a final paper that is graded heavily and two presentations which are only 5 mins long. Its not a difficult class to pass as long as you do the work and come prepared. Missing one or two assignments won't hurt your grade either.

she is a tough grader, i will admit it is and english class in disguised as a women studied class. Some of the discussions were interesting but she had us write 3 papers on the same topic of a cultural studies artifact that became boring. she loves to use her red pen she thinks she is funny and she isn't. she doesnt try and make the class fun.

I absolutely hated this class, I don't think I learned one new thing at all and the assignments were extremely boring. 15 news journal summaries every few weeks, a research paper, and a group presentation. Not too hard just really boring!

I love WMS, but Erin is a tough lady. The course itself if extremely interesting, but her grading style is picky. Her first essay I got a 70 something, and I pride myself on my essays. You just have to know what her writing preference is, and go along with it, otherwise beware.

Comment:

One of the worst teachers I've ever had. If you are a male, you are at an automatic disadvantage. She will make you get a tutor and has no respect or interest is other peoples style of writing. Did not give constructive criticism. Very harsh with grading. Expects every student to be a perfect writer. Don't waste your time. Find another teacher.

Harsh. You dont even learn anything. She spends all class every class talking about the same topics over and over agian(like we didnt understand after the first hundred times)and its a complete waste of an hour of your day. Also she grades sooooo rough. And there is a 99.9% chance, even if you pass the paper, she will make you get a tutor.

She is a horrible teacher. Stay away-i'm in english 101 and i have way better grades in there. She WILL send you to a tutor-I'm an A student and i've always been very good with english but she gave me 70s on everything and sent me to a tutor. In english 101 i have As and Bs so this should tell everyone something-stay away!

There is virtually no work or discussion about the readings, she just goes off on tangents. She likes to refer to her grading scale as the "infamous erin mitchell" whatever, but she's the only one who ever talks about it. She loves to take points off for stupid things--who ever heard of being graded on a title??
